Question about 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix
My daughter has this car, she had a DEI viper remote starter, one of the cable connectors fried where it connects to the unit. we disconnected the remote starter unit completely. her key turns the switch, (after market key) starter cranks, no spark detected using the screwdriver in the coil wire trick.
Its definetly getting gas per the smell of fuel when she cranks the engine,
is it possible the no spark is due to some anti-theft feature or some other interlock device?
all 3 coil packs are bad, or the unit that triggers the coils.
We have check all fuses, both, under the hood, and in the glove box. we swapped the Ignition relay with one of the cooling fan relays, (identical part numbers), still no spark at the screwdriver or sign of engine trying to fire.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
If the after market alarm system isn't completely removed from the vehicle and the car restored back to where it was prior to the alarm, the alarm system will think someone is trying to steel the car and has shut down the signal from the PCM.
The alarm needs to completely removed.
Once the alarm has been removed, I would use a GM ignition key, you may need to tow the car to your local GM dealer to make a new ignition key and program the key to match the PCM, it's possible the vehicle ant-theft system has shut down the electrical because of the incorrect ignition key.
