Sounds like you have a pulley going bad. if you can. remove the belt. have someone start the engine while you listen for the noise. if the noise goes away. one of the pulleys ( or more) are in need of replacing

Look for a seized pulley on the serpentine belt. Also, may be stripped starter gear or flexplate ring gear.

Loud ticking noise when first staring, engine stalls sometimes when starting it unless I hold the gas pedal down

The TPS would be what I would do had that problem once myself solved the problem. as for the ticking noise sounds like a lifter is bleeding down as long as the noise goes away you will be ok. But may I suggest that if you are going to keep the vehicle for awhile longer you might want to have a set of lifters put in it.

The louder noise and burnt smell possibly was the bearing getting worse, or going out, causing the belt to slip over the pullet and start heating up.
Was it a burnt rubber smell?

I don't see how this could have anything to do with the flywheel though.

A loud ticking noise coming from the front of the engine

Check serpentine belt for extreme wear or tear, also look at pully for obstruction. Could be slight valve tap or timing "belt or chain" slapping against the timing cover case, (whatever Suzuki uses).

How do you know when its the timing chain on a 2001 chevy cavalier

left side? when talking about left and right on a car its always referred from the drivers seat... so drivers side is left passenger side is right. if the noise is coming from the passenger side it could be a timing chain but more likely to be a water pump or idler pulley for the serpentine belt. take off serp belt and start car. if noise is gone u have a bad pulley or alternator or power steering pump.. hope this helps

I have a 1998 plymouth voyager. The serpentine belt makes a clicking/ticking noise when I drive. I have had tears in the belt and it has been replaced twice. Could my problem be that I need a new belt...

the automatic transmission makes a clicking noise also. It could be sticking valves in the soleniod assembly pack.
Does it still have the rubber boot over it as this was made to reduce the noise when running

My jeep is making a very loud tic noise coming from the motor...does this mean my motor is gone? How much am I looking at fixing this problem

ticking can be a few problems that are not terminal first check oil if low top off and see if noise quiets down if oil good than have oil pressure checked -may be clogging or bad oil pump-check check where the ticking is coming from if its the head area than possible need to clean repair or replace a valve train part-[clogged push rod ,bad/need adjustment rocker sticking /bent valve oil return clogging /sludge] if coming from front of engine check the pulleys and water pump or fan for damage or debris a ticking noise usually is a noise that can be repaired just need to pinpoint the location

My car makes clunking noises from the engine area but when the clutch is down at a stand still theirs no clunking just the engine ticking over. the battery light is lit staticly on the display too.

the battery light being on is not normal, this could be what is causing the clunking noises, whenever my battery light comes on i try and race home as fast as i can so i wont be stranded, because i know im running on pure battery power and it will only run for another 15 miles before she dies completely. Before she dies the car is making all kind of noises, clunking backfiring., so your alternator is probably going bad or your serpentine belt is very loose.

It could be that you got some water on your serpentine belt and that will cause it to squeak. Try buying a can of "belt dressing" from an auto store and spray it all over your belt and see if that will stop it. It's a cheap and easy thing to try before replacing expensive parts. Hope this works for you, let me know how it goes. Goodluck!
