Ok, the govenor screw that holds the rods connects to either the top or middle screw hole. It depends on how the shaft sits in your motor. According to the instructions it is in the center, you adjust the lever to the right not to the left. A Tecumseh always adjusts backwards. The throttle pistions needs to be in the off position to set it up properly. If you put it on full open then it will not close when you want it to

Yes. That it should. There are a few of these that have different housings. But most go in the middle hole you will be able to tell right away. But i am awair of this engine and known that it does go in the middle

Just for grins put the throttle position in the high idle or fast idle mode and check that. It is hooked up correctly or it would not start so this is to do with the cable

The switch its self is located about 1/2 way down the column and is switched by a rod that goes up to the turn signal switch handle. If you are careful and the linkage rod and actuator is OK you do not need to take the column apart. have someone hold the rod in place while you change the switch. Make sure the rod is operating the switch to see if it is the switch or the linkage. Switch screws onto the outer tube of column with 5/16 head screws.
If you need to access the top of the rod or the mechanism that actuates it you will need to remove the lock plate, compress ( http://www.nationaltoolwarehouse.com/Steering-Wheel-Lock-Plate-Compressor-P32726.aspx Tool looks like that-can be had cheaper at your local parts house) the spring and use a pick to remove the spring clip. remove lock plate and spring.
Then remove the turn signal switch, i screw on the lever bracket and 3 screws mount the switch to the column. You need to unplug the TS switch and remove the plastic wiring guide also about 1/2 way down the column you should be able to get to the top of the linkage rod with just these removed.
To further disassemble the column you have to remove the lock cylinder and remove the 3 big screws that hold the top plastic part of the column.

2006 Ford Focus ZX4: Front passenger door handles do not engage, both inside & out, no resistance at all. Any exploded diagrams available to show what parts needed & how to...

the plastic clip that holds the door release rod on the latch is either broken, or fallen off, to fix this you need to remove the inner door panel, there will be screws along the door handle puller, and inside the little door cup, also on the inner door handle there's one, if you have mechanical windows there's a clip that holds that handle on, remove it with a small flat head screw driver, ( watch out they tend to fly off ) once the screw is off the door handle, pop it out towards you, and remove the rod and clip attached to it, once all the screws are removed,, take a putty knife, along the bottom of the panel and pop out the clips that hold this in place slide the panel up to get it off the window rail at the top of the panel,, now once inside your going to see a sheet of plastic, peel it back , look inside the holes in the door for a rod thats come off ,, once you locate the outer door handle,, you will see where the clip and rod go on one end or the other,,

Drivers side front door will not open from inside or outside even using the key

Sounds like the clips that hold the rods, that operate your inside/outside door handles have come loose. You will have to get the door panel off...but first...you'll have to get the door open. OK...where your inside door "lever" is located....there is a plastic cover behind that lever.....also, there might be a small plastic access cover... over the screw that holds on this larger cover in place. If so....pop the little access cover off and there will be a screw behind it. (keep in mind...this is behind the inside door lever you pull on to open the door) remove the screw...remove the cover...you should now be able to see where the rod has come loose. if you cant grab it with your fingers, get a pair of pliers and pull forward ( toward the front of the car) to open the door. Make sure the door lock is off also. You may find the clip that holds the rod to the lever is broken or the rod has just fallen out of the clip. Sometimes, you can wire the clip into place so it dosnt come loose again. At this point, you will want to remove the door panel....because the "outside door lever...rod...is also loose...in which case you will need access to the inside of the door to fix it. Just remember, you only want to this once...so while in there...fix it right....

How do I replace tie rods on front passenger side

loosen lock nut. clamp vice grips on inner tie rod to hold it from turning. Then unscrew tie rod end, counterclockwise. count the number of turns so you can screw new one on in same place. get front end alignment.

may need to heat the tie rod end with a torch to break it free from the rust.

soak for a week with penetrating oil first.

2005 sunfire pontiac frond door

It is likely the handle or rod came of the lock mechanism. YOu will have to remove all the screws in the door panel and then take a pry bar or huge flat-tipped screwdriver and pry the panel off the door. Then take a look inside to see what doesn't look right. You may see the rod hanging there or it may be lying on the bottom of the door. It should snap back in place, if it doesn't stay in place, then a new little plastic fastner will need to be installed to hold the rod in place.

How do you get the one bolt off to take the alternator off and replace it

Give this to your brother in law:

Park the car on a level surface. Turn the engine off. Open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal from the battery cable.
  • Step 2 Loosen the lug nuts on the driver's side tire. Jack the car up till the tire has left the ground, and you can get a jack stand underneath to support the For Contour's weight. Lower the car onto the jack stand and remove the jack. Remove the tire.
  • Step 3 With a socket wrench, remove the four bolts in the wheel well that hold the mud flap and the flap that protects the radiator from road debris.
  • Step 4 Loosen the belt tensioner bolt by reaching in from the top of the engine with a socket or box wrench. This bolt is usually found in the engine block, holding a spacer bar to the alternator; consult your manual for the location in your specific year of Ford Contour, as they vary. Remove the belt from the pulley.
  • Step 5 Pull the cotter pin from the ball joint stud where it connects to the wheel knuckle in the wheel well. Using a box wrench, loosen, but do not remove the nut on the stud.
  • Step 6 Attach the Tie Rod End Puller to the tie rod by placing the tie rod end in the channel on the top of the steel grip of the puller, and twist the screw clockwise until the tie rod comes free. Separate the tie rod from the wheel knuckle.
  • Step 7 Remove the nut on the ball joint stud that you loosened in Step 5.
  • Step 8 Draw, mark or photograph the way that the wires connect to the alternator and then disconnect the wires.
  • Step 9 Loosen and remove the three bolts holding the alternator in place. There will be one at the top, one at the bottom and one in the rear holding the alternator in a bracket attached to the car frame. Withdraw the alternator through the wheel well.
  • Step 10 Installation is the reverse of removal. Remember to use a new cotter pin at the nut on the ball joint stud.

Ignition removal process for 1984 chevy 1/2 ton

This Outlines Removal Of Both LOCK CYLINDER<< Mechanical)) And The Ignition SWITCH ITSELF<< ELECTRICAL))
    1. Remove steering wheel as outlined previously.
    2. Remove turn signal switch as outlined in ``Turn Signal Switch, Replace'' procedure.
    3. Place ignition switch in ``Run'' position, then remove lock cylinder retaining screw and lock cylinder.
    4. To install, rotate lock cylinder to stop, while holding housing as shown, Fig. 6. Align cylinder key with keyway in housing, then push lock cylinder assembly into housing until fully seated.
    5. Install lock cylinder retaining screw. Torque screw to 40 inch lbs. for standard columns, or 22 inch lbs. for adjustable columns.
    6. Install buzzer switch, turn signal switch and steering wheel

    CABALLERO, EL CAMINO, C, K, R, V & 1986---87 G MODELS
The ignition switch is mounted on top of the mast jacket inside the brake pedal support and is actuated by a rod and rack assembly.
    1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
    2. Disconnect and lower steering column. On some models, it may be necessary to remove the upper column mounting bracket if it hinders servicing of switch. Use extreme care when lowering steering column to prevent damage to column assembly. Only lower steering column a sufficient distance to perform ignition switch service.
    3. On Caballero and El Camino, rotate ignition lock to ``Off'' unlocked position.
    4. On C, K, R and V models, rotate ignition lock to ``Off'' locked position.
    5. If lock cylinder has been removed, pull switch actuator rod up to stop, then pushrod down to second (Caballero or El Camino) or first (C, K, R and V models) detent as shown, Fig. 7.
    6. Remove column mounted dimmer switch, if equipped, then remove switch retaining screws and switch.
    7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
      1. Place gear shift lever in neutral.
      2. Place lock cylinder and switch in positions noted in steps 3 and 4.
      3. Fit actuator rod into hole in switch slider and secure switch with retaining screws, ensuring switch does not move out of detent.
      4. Install and adjust dimmer switch, if equipped, as outlined in ``Column Mounted Dimmer Switch, Replace'' procedure.
      5. Torque retaining screws to 35 inch lbs., then check switch operation.

Need to know how to install exterior door handles

I'm assuming that you have the coupe not convertible since I've had same problem with my 97 Dodge Avenger and this is quite common from what I have heard. The handle is held in place by two 10mm bolts. One is easily accessable, located right beside the handle with the door open. The other is a little harder to get at. The first thing you need to do is remove the inside door cover, held in place by four screws and push in clips along the bottom that pull out easily. Two of the screws are visible and in the top corners of the door panel. One screw is located behind the inside handle and once removed the moulding comes off quite easily. The other screw is in the hand hold where you pull the door closed and has a small plastic cover over it. If you have power windows you are able to disconnect the switches once the panel is off. If manual windows, the handles are usually held on by a clip that can be pushed off with a screw driver allowing you to pull of the crank handle. The window needs to be in the closed position so you can access the ONE 10mm bolt holding the outer door handle. Once the interior door panel is off, if any clips remain in the door, take them out and put them where they should be in the door cover it won't go back together properly if you don't. Now you'll need to pull down the corner of the plastic covering the door, don't remove all the plastic just enough to allow access to the bolt. I used a small rachet to get it out. It is in a stupid spot with not much room but is doable. Once out, the handle is only being held by the lock rods to the handle and lock cylinder. The lock cylinder is held by a retaining clip which can be slid off allowing the cylinder to be pushed out. The other rod connected to the handle has a plastic clip on it holding it in place. This can be opened with a small screwdriver. Once opened the rod will come out easily and the handle should come off the door. The only problem reinstalling, that I had, was reconnecting the rod to the handle and found that if you unscrew the door latch, the whole mechanism can be moved down, giving you more freedom to work with the rod. You might want to do this before fighting with the clip holding the rod in place, just a thought as I got mine apart in 20 min. Installing the new handle is quite easy, just attach rod to the handle FIRST before anything else. Once the handle is back on the door the lock cylinder can be pushed back in, it just gets in the way if you put it in the handle right away. Hope this is of some help.
