Question about 1994 Hyundai Excel

Temp guage hot & won't start

I changed batteries in a 1995 exel and now temp guage goes right up & wont start. Can I reset the compuer?

Simply replacing the battery can NOT cause the problem you describe. I suggest you check the battery cables (polarity) to be sure the battery is installed correctly... then check the battery cables to ensure they are properly connected and no damage is evident (negative - to negative - and positive + to positive +). Replace cables as needed.

on most cars if the temp sending unit goes bad the gauge reads as if the car is running hot. check sending unit before you waste more money.

Over heating on gauge, both fans on rad.


I would say check your coolant level, and change your thermostat. And see if it is high fans or low fans when they come on. There is a fan control relay down on the drivers side frame right under the air box that goes bad too if your fans arent working quite right to check if all else.

Check engine light on


For the check engine light,you need to change the crankshaft sensor.For the temp ,to need to verify the the temp switch,if there is a short circuit in it,this will do like that.

check your coolant level. half way on the guage is normal

try a change of spark plugs, ask for cold plugs when purchasing,you may have hot plugs fitted at mo, ok in summer but in winter.....can be a problem

TEMP GUAGE


There is 1 Relay Switch and a Fuse that Operates this Guage Also. Check in the Fuse Boxes for these first.

Temp guage goes to max (right) when engine is cold.


change the themostat when you remove the old themostat you should see it stuck in the open postion . before i install the new one i fill the the block with coolant install the new stat run the mtr and heater core until hot iwould also replace the cap
