Question about 1993 Mercury Villager

1 Answer

Door issue I just bought a 1993 Mercury Villager with a smashed in drivers side door so we bought a salvaged door from a 1994 Mercury villager and it doesn't seem to fit properly. The door won't shut and it catches about 1/4 inch on the fender. My initial research made it look like this wouldn't be a problem. Should there be this much difference between a 93 and 94 in the doors? Any help would be appreciated.

go to villager quest yahoo group for more help.

I think you have a bad driver door lock actuator. You have 4 in vehicle and one usually casues this. Each door and hatch have them.

If I remove the door lock fuse on a 1994 Mercury Villager will I still be able to open the door with my key?

Yes, that only effects electronic equipment. The lock has a manual operation so if the battery goes down you can still get in and out of the vehicle.

1993 mercury villager- drivers side seatbelt is stuck.

You have a limit switch at each end of the seat belt track. One could be bad. Is belt stuck forward or at the back? It also has a module to control it.
It operates like a garage door opener. If you have to replace track, it's a big job. Have to take a lot of trim off the van. Best thing to do is get it in the rear position and just use the buckle. Get used part at car-part.com.
page with * is lowest pice. Or, go to pick n pull salvage yard and pull it yourself and learn how it comes out.
