Check the bulbs... Possibly the wrong bulbs and make sure they are not crossed!

But switches are very common

Take out the sockets and clean off the hard brittle (rust color) residue buildup that is inside the sockets. You can do this with a mini wire brush. I went about it the hard way and replaced two new tail lights and it worked for a while but then to find out the problem came back. Sometimes they appear clean and often get overlooked. Hope that helps!

Brake lights don't work change everthing

behind your brake pedal is a switch of some sort. it tells the brake lights to come on. check your fuses in the fuse box, and push the brake pedal with your hand and look how the brake switch hits the brake pedal ? is it touching and connected to the wires.

Brake lights dont work when I turn on headlights?

There is a switch under your dash, behind your brake pedal,to recognise this,it is usually black, and has wires to it,if you push the brake pedal in with your hand try to see a pin that slides in,and out when you release the pedal a few times. The switch is bad,or it is not making contact with the brake pedal.

99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake light problem

You can adjust the switch by putting your thumbs on either side of the switch plunger and pushing toward the brake lever. The switch shaft will ratchet into the new position which is will then be depressed by the brake lever when it is the brake is not being depressed.
