It is not complicated especially if you have the small engine with the small valve covers. The overhead cam engines that look like they take up all the space under the hood are harder. I have some of both. See which engine you have. It also should not take a repair shop very long to change them. Hope this helps you, Rick

My 97 dodge intrepid is leaking oil badly! It looks like from engine. How do I fix it?

You don't say from what part of the engine. When is the last time you've had the oil changed? Check the oil filter first if it's loose (it happens) or the seal is old etc... a new filter will fix it.

Replaced crank seal on 97 intrepid 3.5 ,why is there still an oil leak?

Because there are also cam seals & valve cover gaskets which could leak. (Both at top part of engine( Usually if you hot steam clean engine--restart engine--watch closely & may see where oil starts to leak again.

Hay i got a 1997 dodge intrepid and on the driver side the bk spark plug i went to pull it out and when i got it out my spark plug and scocke was coveger in oil do u no why and how to fix it

Sparkplug tube seals are leaking. You will need to remove the valve covers and replace the valve cover gaskets and the round seals in the middle of the cover. the tube seals should come with valve cover gaskets.

I need sparkplug gap information for a 3.3 intrepid 1997

I found your solution at:
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?pageId=0900c1528006a6fa

But www.autozone.com will want you to register at the site (free) to access their vehicle repair guide database.
Your info: Dodge Intrepid 3.3L MFI (multi-port fuel injected) 6cyl
Spark plug gap: 0.048in - 0.053in (1.2mm - 1.3mm)
Torque Spark Plug to: 20 Ft-Lb. (28 Nm)
Replace interval for spark plugs: 30,000mi.

Note: on the 3.3L engine the (6) plugs are under the valve cover.
on the 3.5L engine, the (6) plugs are on the valve cover.

I have a 97 Dodge Intrepid, with no warning at all one day this loud clicking sound which seems to come from under the valve cover. After changing oil it stopped but after driving it for awhile it comes...

By what you are explaining sounds like the "Lifters" have worn out, try putting a quart of "Lucas Oil" in it,is about $10-$12 at your local auto parts store, it will help reduce the noise considerably. Good Luck.

Lately my dodge 1997 intrepid takes a few turns of the key to start. It never had that problem before.

if i recall the 3.5l engine had the habit of leaking fuel at front top of engine. it is a steel pipe that goes from one fuel rail to the other, the orings leak. just give it a little push down while running and if orings are bad it will spray fuel [stand to the side when doing this]
also the plastic fuel rails were known for cracking.
both of these concerns were recalled on some model years call local dealer to see if yours is covered. the 3.3l had a fuel rail recall as well.
reason i mentioned these is if there is a leak the gas will drain back to tank or slowly leak out so when you try to start engine it will crank longer because fuel pressure will have to build back up

ERG Valve on 97 dodge intrepid, I have been told you need to drop the engine in order to replace the ERG valve. Are they trying to justify a large repair bill that I would be presented with, if I have...

YES THEY ARE!!! DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM! I hope you have it in writing that they told you that...because I would have them red flagged by reporting them to the Better Business Bureau! If you copy & paste the following link into address bar...you will see that the EGR Valve for your engine is easy to get at change WITHOUT REMOVING the ENTIRE ENGINE!
Look here: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/parts/partsShelf.jsp?displayName=EGR+Valve&currentPage=1&categoryDisplayName=Emission+Control&navValue=16000214&itemId=214-0&parentId=60-0

I have a 1997 dodge intrepid that i have been told the egr valve is bad...now my car hesitates, stalls or dies on me at random times. could this be the egr or something else?and also sometimes when it dies...

A bad EGR valve can definitely cause these symptoms, but would have nothing to do with the battery terminals. Unfortuneately, several other things can also cause these symptoms.

Is a 1997 Dodge Intrepid 3.5 a high out put motor?

It ain't a viper , but it has quite a good amount of power.
Pulls a intrepid good if you step on it.
Have been told that the 3.5 is a bit sketchy , may throw a rod out the side of the block more often than the 3.3

Location of the jiggle vavle on the termostat on a 1997 intrepid?

The jiggle valve must be placed in the recess provided at one side of the t-stat housing. The side of the t-stat that looks like an erect nipple, must point up.
