Rear brake lights are not working 1998 chevy malibu. Brake light in the rear window works, the rest do not. Does this mean the switch on the brake pedal is ok? The fuse is fine. None of the brake bulbs light and they all seem OK. How are these integrated with park lights-explain please. How are the bake lights conected to the brake light in the rear window and how does this one work and the other brake lights do not.

98 chevy lumina Rear window break light works, but rear break lights don't, also right turn don't work?

I can almost 100% guaranty the turn signal switch is the problem. Power for the brake lights starts at the brake switch. power then splits from there and the third brake light gets power directly from the brake switch. Since the turn signal and the brake lights are on the same bulb power for the brake lights is routed through the turn signal switch. the switch depending on what position it is in will allow brake power or turn signal power to there respective left or right brake/turn bulbs.

If you hold your foot on the brake pedal and wiggle the turn signal and or play with the hazard switch the brake lights will almost always intermittently start to work. this will confirm a bad turn signal switch which is pretty common on GM vehicle with this style setup.

Rear brake lights not working on 1998 Chevy Lumina

Well usually when the third brake light works and the others don't, the problem is in the turn signal switch. The center brake light is separate from the other two as far as circuits go.
The thing that puzzles me is the cruise. It could be something else, because the only way a faulty brake light switch would kill the cruise control is if the switch was stuck on.
I think I would check the circuits in and out of the turn signal switch.

1998 chevy lumina: rear window brake light not working, left brake light not working, rear left turn signal not working

See if bulbs have burnt out in the left brake light and rear turn signal (one bulb if combined) and also rear center high mount brake light.

If the left turn signal has a slower speed than the right turn signal, this is a symptom of a bulb or bulbs burnt out.

Usually, the wiring is not a problem, but I would not rule wiring (or sockets) as a problem out.

Good luck on this repair.

I have a 98 Malibu and my brake lights aren't working. Bulbs are fine. Where is the fuse box for rear brake lights. The center brake light works.

check brake light switch on back top of brake pedal. it may not be getting any power or it may be out of adjustment or bad. the fuses are in under hood fuse box.

check or put a ground wire on the light. maybe its bad. run from brake light to a suitable ground, to see if it works.

Brake lights not working on my chevy malibu

Check fuse/relay and then check the brake switch under the dash close to the brake pedal. It tells the brake lights to come on when you apply the brakes.
