My 1997 Linc. Continental has the ''check engine light'' always.

My 1997 Linc. Continental has the ''check engine light'' lit all thetime. Diagnostic checker indicates #1 oxygin sensor but changing it twice did not help. Does not seem to affect the performance except only getting 11 mi. per gal in the city.

Engine misses while climbing hills or under acceleration load, 1997 Lincoln Continental, 4.6 ltr V8

i had same problem always try easiest/cheapest first A. fuel filter B. loose or cracked vaccuum line C. cap and rotor D. have coil pack checked. if youve ran the car low on gas recently the fuel pump filter may have picked up some trash. also instead of fuel injector cleaner get a bottle of heat for about two dollars it might be your gas.... stay away from gas containing ethanol it also has water pay the ten cents extra for non ethanol gas youll get way better gas milage which will make up for the extra cost at fill up and this will keep your injectors clean.. good luck

My 97 lincoln Continental go's forward just fine. I can feel the transmission shift into reverse but will not move. If I give it the gas the engine speed stops at about 1500 rpm

The TCM or transmission control module may be bad or a stuck trans. shift soleniod. It may be worth it just to take it to a certified transmission shop to have them run a diagnostic check to retrieve the TCM's trouble codes then go from there.

1997 chevy malibu engine light just came on, what does it mean?

Hi,

The Engine Check light signifies your vehicle's onboard computer has identified an abnormality in the engine/emission systems.

If the light goes out, then the computer has recorded the fault but it was not significant to remain lit.

If however, the Engine Check light is now permanently lit....this means the computer has identified an issue that needs resolving.

If the latter applies, then you should have your computer scanned for codes at your local Chev dealership. The computer will identify the offending component/s within minutes.

Cheers,

Engine stalled. no dash lights and no ignition. engine turns over fine but will not start. Timing belt appears ok.

You lost power to a feed cicuit. Start at the positve battery cable and try to follow the circuit to see what is blown. There are fusible linc wires that may have burned thru. "Tug test" suspect wiring. A blown linc wire will pull in two. Lee

My 1996 linc. continental won't pump the front air bags. only the back

sounds like the sensors for the front wheels are not reading correctly. Try unhooking the battery and leaving it off for a while. Then retry, you can also try to get the air ride computer into diagnostic mode. www.lincolnsonline.com

Run into PepBoys, autozone or similar big auto parts stores & most will scan for trouble codes free of charge. Write down the code(s) they retrieve and if they can't tell you right then & there what's wrong, get back to us & we'll help.
