Question about 2003 Honda Accord

1 Answer

03 Honda Accord blower fan will not come on.

I have an O3 honda accord LX. I just replaced the dryer and expansion valve on the ac. Once everything was put back together the blower fan will not come on. All the fuses/relays under the hood are good. The fan runs when hooked up to a 12v battery. I'm told there is a fuse/relay under the dash but am not sure where to look for it at. I know where the fuse and relay box is just dont know which one goes to the fan. Also wondering it could be the resister? Thank you. Esther

Ok I found the resistor unit. There is 4 prong plug that goes into the back side. Is there a way to test if the unit is working. I have Haynes book but does not tell how to test the unit. Thank you. Esther

Alright. It is fixed. I tested the voltage and there was voltage to the resister but not back from the resister. Got a new part and put it on. The blower works great and the Ac also works!!! Just fyi. whenever I tested the AC to make sure there were no leaks I did not have the blower and casing in place. So pretty much the resister burnt up because the fan wasn't blowing on it to cool it down. Thank you for all your help. Esther

The fuse/resistor relay unit that you are talking about will be on the passenger side of the car. If you can find the wires running from the control to the blower motor (which is also on the passenger side of the car), then this unit will be in between the two. It will probably look burnt if it is bad. Also test for voltage entering this unit. If you want a diagram and plan on doing a lot of your own work on this car, then you should buy a Chilton or Haynes manual from a local auto parts store and it will have a diagram of where to find the blower motor and the part that you want to check but you should easily find it under the dash on the passenger side (Just look for the wires and follow them or follow the air system to the blower. There isn't much else under there. Let me know if you need any other help with this.

basically if you turn on the control, you should have voltage entering and exiting the device. So get a voltmeter and check that voltage is reaching it and then see if voltage is exiting it. If it is doing both, then the device is good, let me know what you find and whether you have any questions while doing this. Make sure you have the ignition in the run position while doing this

Where is the expansion valve on a 92 honda accord lx 2.2

Shouldn't have an expansion valve. There should be an orifice tobe in the refrigeration line before it enters evaporator usually near firewall. Just my opinion.

The AC system may need charged, if you have a cabin filter it may be clogged to the point you dont feel the cold air. Just replace the cabin filter if it is clogged.

I have a 2003 Honda Accord lx 2.4 the ac is not blowing at all< what can it be

Could be the TX (Thermal Expansion Valve) behind the glove box, or the freon is gone, or a leak in the condenser coil.

Same problem

Check for ac low pressure switch gone bad.If the expansion valve goes bad it will cause that problem, also, make sure there is enough freon in system. If you could get some one to put ac gauges on the vehicle you could tell a lot about the system,It would tell if the low side was too low(bad expansion valve)or if it was too high on the low side or high side (bas expansion valve or block dryer or condenser.

Cooling fan only comes on when the AC is on. Have checked relays and fuse.

there are 2 fans 1 for the ac that only comes on when the ac is on thats normal.and the radiator fan that comes on when it reaches 160' to 180'degrees only on electric fans.u might have to reposition the wires on the fan.

You need to discharge the AC system and remove the evaporator to replace the expansion valve. No two way about it.

No need to remove the dash

Replace expansion valve

Hi Tresap,
The only expansion valve that I can think of that you may like to replace is on the air conditioning unit....This valve is found usualy mounted onto the AC unit....You'll have to remove the dash board and centre consul....This is qute a job....You should then see the expantion valve on the cabin side of the AC housing....where the pipes go thru into the engine compartment....NOW HOLD EVERYTHING.....before you can remove the valve you need to depressurize the AC unit....That should be done by an expert....The gas is dangerous and you must wear safety googles at ALL times....Once you have removed the valve, you must seal the system so that as little moisture as possible enters the system....If it is left open, you'll have to replace the dryer unit too....when you've finished your replacement, assembly is the opposite as disassembly.....You'll then need to have the system recharged....Don't try to engage it until that has been done....It wont work even if you tried ,as there are pressur switches which will inhibit the opperation....If you have had practice, it will take about three quarters of a day......if not, three or four days

Hope that this helps you

Best regards Johngee10
