Question about 2003 Hyundai Tiburon

Hyundai coupe 2000cc loses power

When the fuel tank is readin 1/4 or less the car seems to lose power intermitently. It is as though it is starved of fuel. Fine when the fuel is full up. When it is low on fuel, and especially going round corners, it seems to lose all power then picks up again. Also with your foot down the litres/100 km dial goes up to max but the car is sluggish. Please help

I had the same problem,it was the hopper tank in the main fuel tank it was not staying full of fuel when the tank was at 1/3 full or less,in my case there was debris in the jet pump causing the pump to not pump.mine wasnt a hyundai but your problem is within your fuel tank.

When tank is below 1/2 full the car is hard to start and when driving it seems to lose power. My check engine light does not come on.

the problem maybe a problem with fuel pickup at 1/2 tank, if the line has blockage, the filter is clocked up, the leveling or device that keeps track of fuel level is defective, there issue with the floater, the part that suppose to float has or full of fuel and when it gets to 1/2 tank, the floater full of fuel and sinks like your out of gas.
i think most likely clogged fuel filter in the fuel tank if your car has this type of system.
if not the fuel filter most of the time its near intake of the injectors, underneath the drivers seat under the car.
or by the inlet and outlet of the fuel tank.

Losing power when its below half full of gas

Pressure test the fuel system to measure the pressure regulator to ensure correct fuel pressure under all driving conditions. Do the test with a less than 1/2 full tank of fuel.

While driving vehicle has a flat spot almost like its starving for fuel..... also noted today while driving vehicle started losing power , like it wanted to stall had to down gear twice .... continued...

Most possible that the fault is linked to a fuel strench. As mentioned it is important to check your fuel filter to confirm if there is block. Also the other area of suspicion can be the fuel tank as if there is water or impurities it can occassionally clog and make the engine hunt.
finally check on the electrics, check the spark intensity to confirm if there is any problem with the spark generation- suspect HT coils or the ignition system.

Car stalls or loses power when we get less than a quarter of a tank in it

Check Fuel Pump/Pick Up Line & Filter in tank, if the Tank is Dented or Damaged that could cause it not to pickup that last 1/4 Tank. It could MAINLY be your fuel pump though. Because with the car full of gas, the fuel pump does have to work near as hard. Hope this helps, James Booth

1995 Isuzu Rodeo intermitantly loses power at highway speed. I can speed up only by pumping the gas pedal. I replaced the fuel filter and continue to have same problem. Engine seems to shudder and lose...

Since you replaced the filter it sounds like a classic fuel pump problem. Don't know your car but best thing to do is buy a repair manual for your car like haynes or chilton's at your local AP store. Read up on it at the trouble shooting section and the RR section. Good luck.

Lose of power on acceleration like its starving

Sounds like there is a load of dirty fuel in that gas tank. Ran good for a while after changing fuel filter, then began to run poorly again. Remove fuel tank, drain and clean out, replace fuel filter AGAIN. That should cure it. Hope this helps

Losing power and dies

Sounds as if it may be the fuel pump has unhitched inside the fuel tank. I will explain....The fuel pump is contained in a housing and when all together slides into receiver built into the inside bottom of the fuel tank. 2 ways it can come loose, previous repairs to the pump causing it not to be installed correctly or vehicle being in an accident and the impact causing the pump assembly to slide out of the "holder". When not in correctly, the pump will be just kind of sitting in the fuel with the fuel pump pickup pointing wherever instead of in the correct position facing towards the bottom. This is why (in my opinion) you are experiencing the problem with less than a 1/4 tank. I would recommend checking this first as its the most likely cause. Hope this helps and please rate this.
