I found what the problem was the crank position sensor needed to be replaced. The code for that problem was P0320. which took awhile to figure out what I had to do was turn the key three times and look at the odometer and the code came up. thank you. It is now fixed

Most common cause of this is crank position sensor. however there are several equally good reasons as well. Have your codes checked with a scan tool, check your battery voatage (should be 12v or better) and listen for fuel pump running in tank with key on.
There are individual component tests you can make with a decent volt/ohm meter. Test for cps is that between b&c terminals there should be no connection (continuity) same reading as you get with meter turned on and test leads not touching anything. You can find instructions in most manuals including vehicle -specific ones such as haynes.
This is not a solution. unless someone gets lucky and guesses correctly, only proper testing will get you an accurate diagnosis!
good luck!

Some of the neser ones are not suposed to give codes without a reader, but glad you found it. Do I get a good rating for being a good guesser??

My Jeep is an '02, but the code is P0138, would this still be the crankshaft sensor?

Before yoy go crazy looking for problems you can't see, buy a spray can of carb cleaner ($3.50) and clean the sludge under the flap of your throatle body. Dirt gets in through the air filter and accumulates where you can't see it without putting the flap in the vertical position. Use a rag and your finger to wipe it clean after you spray it liberaly.

What happens is that you engine needs a minimum amount of air at low speed, when the flap is in the horizontal position, and the sludge blocks it.

My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Will die going down the road. Sometimes it starts back up without me touching the key.other times I have to wait a few minutes before it will crank again.Any suggestions? Thank...

I've got to be reading this incorrectly...You are driving, the engine turns off...you pull off the road? And then without touching the key the engine re-starts, but you haven't touched the key? Or, sometimes you need to sit there for a few minutes and then turn the key to start it?

Shuts off will driving, especially if I hit a bumpy road.

check the wires to the fuel pump if they have rubbed against something and the insulation wore through hitting bumps or rain could cause it to short and kick the relay and resets again and will start

it is hard to know without scanning for codes, do you have a way to scan? If not parts stores usually do it for free.
