I have a 96 ford falcon station wagon and when i go to the driver side door about 50% of the time it wont unlock and the lock will get stuck half way, then i either have to enter from the boot or the passenger door and if i unlock the car from there the car automatically keeps locking and unlocking so the only way i can open the car is if i quickley open the door while its in the unlock stage, i enter the car and sometimes it still keeps unlocking and locking, i can always lock it easy and open it from the incise out easy as well any ideas?
Dude, the same thing happened with my EL falcon. It turned out to be the key fob!
The buttons were sometimes sticking and all of a sudden it would re-lock. Ususally it would unlock then immediately relock. Leaving no time to get into the the car. Sometimes we would be driving and the Alarm would go off without touching a thing. I ditched the Key Fob and all was well again.
I hope this helps

starter/igniton switch faulty to diable the door locks: switch on but do not start the engine, press the unlock button on the driver door three times, switch off, press the unlcok buttons three times more, switch on without starting press unlock and lock again and switch off.
REPLACE YOUR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK MOTOR BEFORE YOU REPLACE IT DISCONECT IT FROM ELECTRICAL CONECTOR TRY LOCKING CAR IF IT WORKS THEN REPLACE THE LOCKING MOTOR LET ME KNOW MABY I CAN HELP IF YOU NEED ME TWO OK
The only reset is if the key fob and the receiver get out of sync, to check that be out side of the car doors closed and unlocked. Press both lock and unlock buttons on the remote (key fob) at the same time if the doors lock and unlock that was your problem. It could be the battery it could be the key fob or the receiver.
I do have a book on the 1996 but no on me but I have had a problem with it the same, Get in and sit in the drivers set and push lock from the in side and then do the same but this time unlock it and then get out and try to use the remote. if no then try to do the same thing but in the passenger side. lock and then unlock. no then call the ford dealer shop and they have a alarm department that will help you and I know because I had then do a job on one of my other cars and I was charged $20.00 he did it on a side job.
I had this problem and in the trunk on the driver side pull the inner panels down. There should be a little box and a 2 prong plug beside it. You need to bridge the 2 prongs on the plug over and the doors will lock then unlock. After they do then use the lock button on your remote and this should fix the problem. Good Luck
