Could a silver square relay looking fuse thingy broken off stop my wipers from working?

My wipers stopped working. Found a silver square relay looking fuse thingy, but I think it broke off from wherever it fell from. There was no prongs on it.

Where did you find it? did you look above where it was to see if the prongs are still installed? as in the fuse block?

SOURCE: Delay wipers don't work.

Try making sure the connection is good.
If it is then you should try replacing the wiper switch.

SOURCE: windshield wipers stopped working on 1993 jeep cherokee

Did you plug them all back in? lol j/p

Do your blinkers and your back windshield wipers work? It's either electrical or mechanical. Turn them on and poke around to see if you hear the motor doing anything. If you hear it, it's probably a broken linkage. If not, start with the fuses and work from there.

It's possible that by unplugging the battery and then plugging it back it, the fuse for the wipers received an electrical surge, blowing it. Consult your manual to see where the fuse for your model is and check to see if it's blown.

SOURCE: no power at relay... fuse is good.... can jump

The current flow is controlled by the multifunction switch on the steering column. If the problem is in the electronic parts, wiring, switch (except the integral motor park switch) and wiper motor a DTC will be stored in the BCM. You will need a DRB scan tool. Check with some auto part stores, some stores will do scans for free.

that's it right here^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ and the location is in the diagram above but you must check all the fuse/s first Google 1996 ford crown Victoria and download for free to your phone/computer that way you'll always have it then go to roadside emergencies and the passenger fuse box/power distribution box diagram under the hood are there and is needed for times when something happens on the road if your wipers stopped working because you tried to use them without clearing ice away or a big piece of ice got stuck in the cowl where the wipers are you blew the fuse if they work erratically or won't shut off or stop up on the window blocking your vision either the module shown above or the wiper transmission in the wiper motor has failed and must be replaced as a whole unit

2004 Hyundai Sonota - both wipers stopped working - Is it really the wiper transmission or could it be a fuse?

if its the transmission you would still hear some noise coming from it. if that's not the case then go after fuses and wiper relay.

My 2001 Pontiac Sunfire turning signals aren't working correctly. They work when they want to. Sometimes they will work when I use them, and sometimes they will flash once and stop flashing.

First thing I would check is the "Flasher". It is usually found in your fuse box, or maybe around it. It is really a relay switch that is called a flasher. It is a lot bigger than a fuse, and it is usually silver. It plugs directly in to the panel on the fuse box. When your blinkers are working, you can feel the flasher "ticking". It looks like a big silver squa approximately 1 square inch. Approximately 1in. square. You can find a pic of it on any parts stores web site.

try changing the wiper relay first and check out the fuses if all is good then the motor itself may have seized or the worm drive may be worn or broken check the toothed spline where the wiper blade attaches the splines may be smooth or broken which will stop the blades moving back and forth

Wipers will not turn off

Your wiper relay contacts are stuck. The wiper relay is located INSIDE the wiper motor assembly. You must replace the entire wiper motor assembly to replace the relay.

You might try rapping on the wiper motor with a small hammer or a screwdriver handle a couple times to see if you can jar it loose.

Wiper blades stopped mid action after de icing window

Look for a blown fuse/bad relay. The wiper blades would not cause this problem. It's possible the motor lost power due to a broken internal wire, brush, or maybe a seized bearing. There is an auto-return switch mounted to the motor that may have failed. Good luck!

Windshield Wiper Issues

Sounds like the relay (should be found with the fuses) for the wiper system is at fault. Either that or the wiring has shorted somewhere. Most likely a new relay is required.

Check all bulbs, fuses, then relays (the flasher relay could be a 1 inch round silver type plug) (other relays are usually 1 inch square like black boxes).
Fuses and relays are located under dash or under hood marked in their location or in the manuel.
Also look for any obvious wire damage or rusted wires nearby why your there.

Hope this helps FixYa!!!! Please Rate Me!!!!

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee wipers not working

the relay is dirt cheap at the store (8-12 dollars), the relay is easy to find. on top of the engine area back near the firewall is a small to medium sized black box with a snap up lid...there are relays just sitting inside of it, you want the one with 3 prongs going across the bottom and 2 prongs going front to back on the bottom. it's a big square piece that just pulls out. the wiper fuse is kinda a pain to get to busy easy to replace... it's a really big silver metal cased fuse on your fusebox closest to the floor... be careful because if the wiper fuse is bad, it may be hot as hell to touch so take care when grabbing it. any auto store will have one. if neither of these fixes work then you need to check the motor wheel that connects to the wiper arm rods under the vents where the washer lines run down from the arms... sometimes the pins that connect the arms to the wheel snap off which make the wipers stop. worst case is the motor itself went bad. hope this helps
