You should just go to Honda and purchase it from them. You can go up to the parts counter and either give them your year/make/model or your vin and they will give you exactly what fluid(its the same on all A/T honda's) and the correct amount need. They made the car, they know best.

Hello levingstons4,

When you go to the auto parts store to purchase the fluid, as a representative to look it up on the computer. They can tell you what the manufactures recommendation is, as well as if there is a recommendation for high mileage tranny fluid for vehicles with higher mileage (75,000 or more).

Each vehicle has a 'required' type, and seeing the representative is the best alternative to getting this question answered.

I hope this helps answer your question, and you get your tranny fluid changed successfully. Thank you again for choosing fixya.com.

Check your power steering fluid level. If too low the pump will whine like that. Put some in it if low. Don't buy power steering fluid, automatic transmission fluid is the same thing and is much cheaper.

usually many brands, especially honda, has many other companies that make fluids that are the same or even better in some cases then oem brands. in other words, don't worry about it, if he's a good mechanic, he'll use the right type of fluid.

Takes a long time to shift into gears

Check the transmission fluid filter. You usually have this changed when you have the transmission fluid changed. The problem could also be a transmission solenoid that needs to be changed. The best thing is to take it into one of the national tranmission service centers and have the run a diagnostic for a minimal chanrge. Mineke or Aamco would work.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

How to determine honda civic 2000 hatchback ATF automatic transmission fluid type?

Best way is look in your Srevice Manual that came with your car, it list all fluid types for you auto. .Walk right into the local Auto perts shop and say" Ineed to purchase some trans fluid for my 2000 Honda Civic what kind should I get and he can look it up for you. Call the local Honda dealers parts department. They will know for sure! lots of luck. If you find this helpful please leave a good rating Thanks, Jack

Noisy Transmission on my 2009 Honda CRV

If you have an automatic transmission, locate and check the transmission fluid dipstick to ensure you have enough fluid.

If manual transmission, usually you can only check it by unscrewing a bolt. (the fluid lasts a long time and shouldn't leak -look for fluid on the bottom of the transmission or under the car..)

I have not worked on these, so I am just guessing.

The noise could also be not in the transmission perhaps..

I have a honda cr-v automatic gear box it drives but it can't go reverse when you put the reverse gear. what is the problem?

Has the Transmission fluid been changed every 30,000 with Honda ATF-Z1?

If some one has put in GM Dexron III in it instead, the transmission may not shift properly and it can damage the transmission over time.

Also if some Express/Quick Lub place has flushed your Honda Transmission Dexron III or any type of Flushing agents, it's probally going to have to be replaced. Google "flushing Honda transmission" or MSN under "Express lub Transmission flush Fraud". Those back flow flushers systems damage the internal valves of many modern transmissions, both import and domestic and have NEVER been recommended.

Suggest taking it by a Honda Dealership or a aftermarket Honda/Acura ASE Certified Shop.
