My low coolant light will not go away, even after I have drain the old coolant fluid and add new one. The light will still blink on and off.

SOURCE: Coolant in topped off. engine

The sending unit for the coolant is bad. Your I believe is on the passenger side mounted it the radiator about 10" down. It is square. There is a clip that holds it in. remove it and pull the unit out and shove the other one in. Coolant will come out, so do it when it cold.

SOURCE: Low Coolant Light

Why is it low? Leaking? The dumbest thing they sell is a 50/50 mix of antifreeze. You are getting 50% water and 50% coolant. Just buy a 100% antifreeze jug add it first and top it off with water. If the water is not low you may hve a bad coolant level sensor. It snaps into the radiator tank and is easy to replace when cold.

Refilling radiator

These cars have a closed system as the radiator gets low is sucks coolant from the recovery bottle and as the engine gets hot the expanded fluid goes to the recovery bottle when hot. the recovery bottle is to the left of the radiator You can add there at anytime it is needed. BUT DO NOT TAKE RADIATOR CAP OFF ON A HOT SYSTEM it is pressurized and you will get thermally burnt. check only cold and coolant should be with in a inch of the top. continually adding coolant means the system has a leak.

Transmission whines when cold and shifts on the edge

Sounds like it maybe slipping, try checking the transmission fluid level and add as necessary to full mark of near full mark, which is in the operating range, could do what I did with my windstar minivan, add in the Lucas Transmission Fix, for your Ford Taurus you'll need Mercon ATF ( Automatic Transmission Fluid ) unless its a manual transmission or differently specified which then will need different fluid, check the owners manual, repair manual or phone Ford and ask them for transmission fluid type. Keep in mind that the wrong fluid type in transmission and or wrong amounts ( overfilled ) or ( underfilled ) can affect the transmission's proper operation.

Also check your coolant, when coolant level is low the light will come on the dash cluster and add as needed, Fords usually use the green coolant, green colored coolant or could use the universal type coolant. Check the owners manual, look in a repair manual or ask Ford technician for the coolant type.

I have a 2006 c5500 and the water light came on. Is it as easy as draining the fuel filter? and should I drain the fuel and change the filter?

Hi there,

It's important to understand that a "Water" warning light, does not relate to fuel.

If it is indeed a 'water' warning light, then it is likely to be either:

1) windscreen washer bottle water is low, or
2) engine coolant fluid is low (check the level of your coolant resevoir bottle)

If your coolant is low, then you should investigate why you are losing coolant fluid.

Cheers,

Antifreeze is low and need to add coolant. Where is the antifreeze added?

Through the expansion tank filler, you will need to drain some fluid off first.

I just had my car serviced at a garage and now my air conditioning doesn't work. They changed the oil/filter, transmission fluid/gasket, coolant drain/new coolant, and cabin/air conditioning filter. They...

Maybe the refrigerant charge of r134a is low on pressure. Have that checked. I hope that the air conditioning tubing wasn't disturbed when all of that service was performed.

It really shouldn't have affected the a/c if they stayed away from that system.

My car turns the light low coolant and when i turn it on it comes like smoke. i put antifreese again. but it keeps showing the ligth low coolant

I dont remember the lumina having a low coolant light.

It does have a low washer fluid light though.

You can see if you coolant overflow bottle is full. If it isnt, fill it to the hot or cold mark on the side.

Fill your windshield fluid too and see if the light goes out.

Good luck and be safe!
