yea ill gonna try dry gas but i think it would still run if it had watered down gas so im gonna try fuel filter first, then oil pressure switch OSU see what happens after that. gonna work on it tomorrow

  • austinkier Apr 18, 2009

    alright i will

  • austinkier Apr 20, 2009

Replaced the fuel filter it did need it badly considering the old one was rusted to the lines, but didnt fix the prob. Also replaced the (OSU) oil sensing unit and that didnt fix the prob either. But it will run if i put starting fluid in it i just think the oil pump is slow at start or the fuel pump isnt pumping enough pressure to get it to start.

I had a problem with fuel pressure due to a bad ground ******** the back of the engine block. This ground connects the battery to the frame through the engine block. The fuel pump is grounded to frame near the gas tank so it needs this ground strap. I live in NY where the salt corrodes the strap in about 10 years.

Underneath the "carberator" is a set of lines that looks like a spider they are made of plastic and have probably got holes in them from old father time change those out and you might get a good running truck ...thats what happened to mine same truck same year and same motor....good luck

Wont start

Did you mean starting fluid or a full tank of gas ?
V6 vortec engines require 60psi of fuel pressure or more to run.
You may need to check the fuel pressure with a gauge.

V6 4.3l starting problem wont run

If it is a Vortec V-6 they take at least 60psi to start and run.
The dealer will know what your min pressure should be.

2000 chevy silverado v6 vortec engine, died driving, changed fuel pump, plugs wires, etc. and still wont start. ever heard of that

1st, check to see if the fuel pump runs for 3 seconds when you turn the key to run (not start). If it doesn't run, then check the fuel pump fuse & relay in fuse box under hood, if OK, (spray starting fluid in the intake to see if engine fires at all), if no fire then look towards the ignition as the problem. There are 5 things need to start an engine: 1. fuel (delivered & pressure), 2. air, 3. spark (distributor/ignition module or pickup coil), 4. rotation & timing, 5. compression. any of these that are wrong or not there, the engine fails.

I have a 98 s-10 it wont start it has 40 to 45 pounds of pressure & its firing getting gas but wont run i pulled the fuel pump relay n it try to run i sprayed it with start fluid it hits but if i put...

If this truck has the 4.3L vortec motor it will not start with 40-45 PSI fuel Pressure.Thius engine requires approx. 56 PSI fuel pressure or it will not start. The fuel pump more than likely needs to be replaced this is a common problem with the 4.3L vortec engine.Change the fuel pump and your problems will be solved.

1996 CHEVY K1500 PICKUP 5.7 LITER VORTEC GAS ENGINE STARTS AND IDLES FINE BUT WHEN YOU PUT IT IN GEAR AND STEP ON THE GAS IT WILL DIE IT WILL START BACK UP AGAIN RIGHT AWAY BUT AS SOON AS YOU GIVE IT...

the only way to tell for sure is to have the engine anylized with a real time scanner, it could be a sensor or actuator that is not throwing a code so a scan for codes will not help, if all seems to be od start looking for vacuum leaks, air bubbles in the fuel, fuel pressure constant, etc

Takes at least 3 tries to start

check under the hood for vacuum leaks this could cause both the heater and the running problem

your flap is controled by engine vacuum and if there is a hose off under the hood you may fix both problems
