F 250 wontt go above 1500 rpm!!??? Replaced fuel

if its a diesel engine sounds as if you either have a fuel supply restriction or high pressure injection pump needs timed or replaced , if it's gas engine i have seen this happen to a car before turned out to be a faulty engine crank pos sensor, never threw a code in ecm but a ck on the old laptop plugged in (obd II) said that engine was hitting rev limit (at just above idle)

Idle adjustment screw for 95 merc Sable 3.0

I will try to explain new electronic injection. There is an adjustment but you have another problem if the idle speed is too high.

When the RPM goes higher, it means you have an air leak, intake runner problem or higher fuel pressure than the stock setting. Or ISC (idle speed control solenoid) Think of it like opening the throttle slightly and letting more air into the motor or gas into the engine.

You can use a pump spray bottle of water with the engine running and mist the seams and vacuum lines and switches. A change in RPM indicates a leak.

Intake runner. These are like shutters inside the intake manifold. Modern intakes can have 2 levels of airflow separated by the intake runners. Sticking runners can let more air into the engine at the wrong time and affect idle.

ISC solenoid Is a valve that regulates airflow for the idle. Soot can cause it to stick in the wrong position. Removing and cleaning the port with WD40 can help.

High fuel pressure. If the fuel regulator sends more gas to the engine, the RPM will increase.

There is a set screw at the base of the airhorn to stop the throttle cable. It is called a throttle stop. There is a hex hole for an allen wrench and it has been coated with threadlock in some instances. Really it is not meant to be turned once the factory sets it. But you can do it. If anything fixes the defects I mentioned, the idle may be too low. I do not have the Specs or know if you have any optional engine. Generally the engines idle between 525-and 600 rpm.

Please rate my info.

Toyota Rav 4 1997 .Check engine comes on .Codes are P0301,302,303,304116 . What to do.

The engine coolant temperature is high. Your other Codes are for missing cylinders on cylinder 1,2,3,and 4. Get the Codes cleared and start over. Changing the plugs and wires, etc could have generated the missing cylinder Codes.

Autozone,Advance, and Oreilys will scan for free.

Check your engine for an IDLE SPEED CONTROL SOLENOID, which may be in the intake. Or a fuel pressure regulator.

A lot of times people work on the spark side and forget the fuel injectors. They can cause a miss.

Starting Problem

I would look at the EGR valve and test whether the diaphram is ruptured. Then if not successful look at any idle speed "motor".

If that is not successful, look at the intake manifold. With the engine running, get a old spray bottle and spray water around the seams of the intake while the engine is running. Any opening will draw in the water and stall the engine or reduce RPM. That is how you find the leak.

The reason your car is idling high is when you open the throttle, more air goes in the engine. If there is an air leak that does not belong there it will raise the idle just like your foot pressing down on the accelerator.

The car is hard to start because the air/fuel mix is flooded with air. You are not getting enough fuel for the volume of air that is entering the engine.

1992 olds 88 3.8 very high idle

iac motor could be bad. also check the fuel pressure regulator to make sure it isn't leaking fuel out of the vacuum connection and allowing it to **** back into the intake.

98 ford explorer high idle

Its either a faulty idle air control valve or a faulty fuel pressure regulator. My bet would be the idle air control valve. If you pull the vacuum hose off the fuel regulator or the map sensor and fuel runs out then the regulator is bad.If you replace the control valve then you have to reset the computer.

2004 ford taurus ses 3.0 pretty sure th.e fuel pressure regulator is bad but don't know if it's in tank or on fuel rail. Have to turn key couple times to fully prime pressure and car runs at...

The fuel pressure regulator is on the fuel rail..But it sounds like to me like a stuck idle air control or a vacuum leak..Look carefully at all the vacuum lines and make sure they are not broke or crimped..If it stuck idling high you can tap on the valve and the idle will come down

Motor starving for fuel pump ok pressure 100lbs book calls for 44lbs which do I replace the fuel pump relay or pressure regulator engine will not Idle with pedal too floor only 2000rpm

sounds like the regulator is not doing it's job, but you say starving? Is the engine running lean or rich? Is there black smoke coming out the exhaust? I'm thinking high pressure would normally cause a rich condition.

hi, i would say the automatic choke spring broke, this is what controls the cars idle at cold and hot engine tempatures. if it's broke it is no longer able to automaticly regulate the rpm's the for making it idle at hi rpm. hope this could help you.
