Hi. normally, this warning concerns minor service like a oil change needed or some minor flushing of the transmission or radiator(coolant system). I wouldn't take this warning lightly. Check your oil just to make sure its not low or extremely black. you can also check the consistency by gathering a small amount of oil with your finger tips and rubbing it in between your pointer finger and thumb. if the oil feels gritty and not smooth, its time to change it. there may be small microscopic metal fragments that can ruin the cylinder walls and much more.

Check the coolant level as well. make sure the overfill tank is filled to the right level.

A diagnostic cpu scan wouldn't hurt as well. this is good preventive maintenance and will save you money.

Please rate and god bless:)

In my oppinion, dont worry about it. Mines been on for about 10 years now. I do all my fluid changes myself. Oil, Anti-freeze, Crankcase (manual trans), and Rear Axle. I do my own alternators, starters, tune-ups, and anything else I know I can do. I have 198k miles almost 199k. Doing the work myself I know that things will be done right. One suggestion I have is to see if the Maintenance requirement light has its own fuse. Think I'll check that out myself. If it does just pull it out. I took out my selt belt noise maker the day I drove it off the lot back in 93. aahhhhh...... So I wouldnt think pulling that fuse would be bad or anything. I'll try to check it out soon to see if that fuse goes to anything else and I'll look in my manual too.

Exhaust filter light came on in 08 sierra 4x4 duramax it has 52000 miles, could it already be bad or is there a simple fix

I'm not sure about the automotive diesels but I know on the big trucks the DPF or diesel particulate filter needs to be serviced at regular intervals. They remove the flter and disassemble it and put it into a special cleaner and test it before puting it back on. I would imagine that there is some maintenance required for yours as well. If you still have your owners manual I would look in it and read about what the maintenance recommendations are for your vehicle. A lot of it probably depends on your driving habits as well. I know that if you drive a big truck and the filter gets plugged you can cause damage and eventually the truck will shut down.

My maintenance required light is on...1994 mighty max...i added oil, what else do i check?

just learned this morning, there is a switch on the side of the steering column that has a cap over it. The light comes on at certain mileage so you know when to get big things done, like new timing belt. Check your manual for maintenance due, then open that cap and flip the switch inside to shut the light off.

Maintenance required

maintenance may have been done, but your indicator needs to be reset.
How this is done, I don't know. But, you might ask the dealership.

Maintence required on red

Maintenance Required is a light that comes on after a predetermined number of miles. For example, if the maintenance schedule Honda set for the car calls for an oil change at 3000 miles, a new fan belt at 6000 miles, and another oil change at 9000 miles, then the maintenance required light will come on every 3000 miles and stay on until it is reset by the dealer. Some people, especially those that do their own regular maintenance but don't have a way to reset the light themselves, find this an annoyance. But others find it useful and take their cars in to the dealer every time the light comes on, and they rest assured that all of the regular maintenance is always done on time.

What this light does NOT do however is signal that there is anything immanently wrong with your car. It is not a "Check Engine" light (that's the one you should worry about if it ever comes on), but merely a reminder for you to do preventative maintenance. That doesn't mean you should *ignore* it, per se, as you want to make sure you have your car on some kind of maintenance schedule, even if yours is not as strict as Honda's. But there is no need to panic.

Maintainance Check

Our 2006 Corolla has a "Maintenance Required" light in addition to the "Check Engine" one. MR light comes on every 5000 miles telling you to change oil and whatever's in the book. To turn it off,
Set Cluster Display to ODOMETER (not Trip A or Trip B)
Ignition Off
Hold Cluster Display button down
Ignition On, Continue to Hold button down
Odometer will change to "----------" then return to Miles Display
Light goes Out

My Maintenance Required light flashes

The light comes on if you've gone twice as far as is recommended since your last oil change.

You can reset it by holding the odometer button in, while turning the key from off to run (not start). Hold the button in until the light goes out. Then start it.

As for the rumbling, does it rumble when in park and the gas is pressed? What about neutral with the gas pressed?

Does the rumbling coincide with a sudden change in RPM? If so, this indicates it's a gear shift issue.
