Cannot pair my phone with Bluetooth

I purchased a 2007 S-Type Jaguar and when I push the phone icon, I cannot get to the appropriate screen to pair my blackberry with the bluetooth. All I get is a screen that says "handset in use", etc. I want to be able to use my phone and car together. Can you help me?

I cannot pair my blackberry pearl to my bluetooth in the car. when i push the phone icon, i get the screen saying handset in use. the screen nevr changes. not 20min or 5 mins. it stays on that screen. i do not get the opportunity to punch in numbers jor symblols. I have the manual and have done the turn the car engine off, etc. the phone tries to discover the car. please help me. i want to use this feature in my car.

  • anglrckx Apr 23, 2009

i did upgrade my software even though it was fine. it froze my phone up and now it doesn't work the same at all. Most of the solutions provided I already either have from the manual or from research. What about resetting the battery? how do you do that? and where is the battery located. What about the antenna. where is that and could that be the problem? I never get past the screen about the handset in use. thanks

Please see THIS DOCUMENT

Directly from the bulletin:
To ensure that your Bluetooth system functions correctly, we recommend that your handset
be fully charged whenever you use it with this system.
1. Switch ON ignition
2. Press the phone mode button on the head unit or the touch screen to change to
phone mode
3. The display will show "Handset" (or "Handset in Use" for up to 15 seconds).
4. The display will show "SIG_____" (or "No BT Phone") for up to 2 min whilst the
system is initialising.
5. The display will then show "SIG ****" or "SIG *****" (or "Discover Me") if the system
has not been paired to a handset, otherwise
6. The display will show "SIG *" (or "Phone Connected") if the system has been paired
to a handset.
Vehicle Procedure for Pairing
· If the vehicle display is not already in 'Discoverable' mode, ready for pairing i.e.
displaying "SIG ****" (or "Discover me"), then there are 2 ways to put the system
into this mode:
a) Key sequence 1
1. Key in ##1#*# followed by the send / end key. This will put the system
into discoverable mode for up to 5 min.
2. If a handset has not been paired to the vehicle within this time, the
display will show "Handset" (or "Handset in Use").
3. For non-touch-screen systems, the display will switch back to the
previous audio mode.
4. Switch OFF ignition for 6 min to allow the system to shut down and
recover, before switching ignition back ON and repeating step 1.
b) Key sequence 2 (RECOMMENDED)
1. Enter key sequence ##3#*# followed by the send / end key. This will put
the system into discoverable mode for an indefinite period.
2. We recommend that you use this key sequence to give you sufficient
time to pair the handset to the vehicle.
· After entering this key sequence, follow the specific instructions for your handset to
complete the pairing process.
· During this process, the display will change from "SIG****" to "SIG_____" (or from
"Discover me" to "No BT Phone") briefly whilst the system connects the Bluetooth
link.
· It will then change to "SIG*" (or "Phone Connected").
On your BB options make sure that you have the following set;

Discoverable: yes
Allow outgoing calls: Always
Address Book Transfer: All entries
However - if NO device connects - chances are the antenna will need to be replaced.
The BTM is in the trunk and the antenna module is in the center console.
The BTUM incorporates the antenna. It is under center console. The module in the trunk is the PSE module that communicated everything to the audio unit. Also stores your phone book.

2007 still under warranty? it should be replaced where you bought the vehicle, if you are unable to connect via the procedure outlined above.

According to Blackberry, in order for the Blackberry to sync with any car's bluetooth, there is a "car kit" that performs this function. According to my understanding, if you were able to remove the radio, you would find the "car kit" and could replace it with another brand "car kit" that is compatible with Blackberry. The car kit is something mounted inline so it's outside of the radio according to my info. I don't know if this is right, but that's what RIM told me.

The second thing RIM told me is there were trying to do a software upgrade for the Pearl so that it would sync with the Jaguar. They told me this a couple of months ago. I'm not aware of an update yet, but hopefully they'll do one.

Jaguar is pitifully arrogant on this issue. For Blackberry to be one of the biggest deal phones ever, you'd think Jaguar would have done their homework. You can sync a Pearl to the new 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup truck. The Japanese have got their act together and if there's a problem they try to fix it.

Bottom line is all Blackberry users should be raising hell over this issue and hope for Blackberry to come up with a software fix.

Hi Anglrckx,
  Check the link below :-
http://www.jaguar.co.uk/uk/en/owners/owner_information/bluetooth.htm

Now,
I can describe a normal procedure :-
Start your BMW. It will automatically be in pairing mode for the 2 minutes after it is started. Step2Go to the connections menu in your Bluetooth enabled phone and select "search for devices" Step3You should see an ID appear on your phone that starts with BMW. Select this device ID. Step4Enter the passkey. Once prompted you will only have 20 seconds to complete the task. Step5Now check the radio display. It should indicate that the pairing process was successful. At this point your data will be downloaded into the cars system. Step6Confirm that your contacts have been loaded into the system and perform a test call.
I hope this would help you.
Thanks for using Fixya.
Do rate the solution as "Fixya" if 100% satisfied.

The normal procedure is applicable for most of the cars, whether that's sedan or bmw.

    Thanks.

That is normal, if a phone is not already paired, it will always show Handset or Handset in use.

Here the full procedure:

1. Initialisation

Here the full Jaguar bluetooth Guide, download it and print it out.

If you are doing procedure correctly , then try removing all pairing from the bluetooth.

Also remove all pairing from blackberry.

Then remove blackberry battery for one minute (to reset bluetooth on bb).

And do pairing again.

Thanks for asking us.

You can try resetting the whole thing by unplugging the battery cable, but you may be asked car stereo code on re-connect.

The screen saying handset in use is normal, this is what you should do at that point:

How do i connect my mobile with my x type jaguars phone system

If there is no mobile phone Paired to the
vehicle system and the SIG screen is
displayed, Pairing may be performed as
follows:
Select Phone Mode (if not already
selected).
Use touch-screen keypad to enter the
following digit sequence and press the
Send/End button.
The following sequence performs exactly
the same function, but times-out after
approximately five minutes, ##1#*#.
(If you are not familiar with the Pairing
process, this sequence is NOT
Recommended, because of the time-out
period.)
At the SIG**** screen the vehicle system
is waiting for communication with a
Bluetooth equipped telephone.
Check that your mobile phone is set to the
Jaguar Bluetooth system, using the menu
functions on the phone. Refer to the
handbook that was supplied with your
specific mobile phone.
When Jaguar device is found on the
mobile phone display, the phone will
prompt you to enter the pass key (1313)
on the mobile phone keypad.
When the above operation has been
completed and the phone is successfully
Paired and connected with the vehicle
system, the SIG* screen will be displayed.

Bluetooth Expert cant get the 2007 Jaguar S-type Bluetooth workin

Is your bluetooth in Jaguar discoverable to devices?

I would suggest the Jaguar may not be transmitting a signal - In the 2007 Model X Type - There is a specific code ##3#*# Followed by Call button - Which then changes from Phone to SIG *****

Have you tried the above? The Quickguide Jaguar Manual does offer the code specific to Make of Car - It is near the last page of the book.

HOW DO I SET UP CELL PHONE TO USE IN CAR?

OK - If you are getting the SIG instead of Phone connected in the X Type - You need to enter the code - for the 2007 X Type, the Code is ##3#*# - Which should then say waiting and finally SIG ****** which means it is connectable - To pair your phone, goto bluetooth and pair device, wait until the Jaguar is found. When prompted for the numerical code it is 1313
