Brake line replacing cost

Brakes go straight to the floor and there was a puddle under the car. There was some resistance but the brakes just kept going to the floor. Is it the brake line? And how much would it cost for a 2004 Ford Taurus?

Did you see where it is leaking from? Sure it isn't from a wheel cylinder? Or from a front rubber line?

SOURCE: 1986 Ford E-150 Brake line problem

when you bleed the brakes start from the p/s rear then d/s and so on make sure to crack the bleed screw and not the bleed nut also check the brake booster for correct movement thats what opens the pistons on the master cylinder

Brake line busted somewhere? Is the linkage to the master cylinder intact? Master cylinder might have been installed incorrectly.

Brake pedal went straight to the floor without resistance

Low or empty brake fluid . No red brake light lite . Brake line corroded maybe , where do you live ? Rust belt USA . Just had a similar problem in a 2005 chevy cavalier . Did you have to stop really fast ?

Why my 1998 brake is down to the floor soft and spongy

It sounds like you have a leak in your brake system. If you climb under the car and look at back sides of each tire and look for an oily film on one or more of tires. That'll indicate that wheel is problem source. Could be wheel cylinder, caliper, brake hose. If you open hood and inspect fluid level in your brake master cylinder, I'm sure you'll find it low or empty.

Good morning. I have a 2001 Buick Century. I had to slam on the brakes a couple of days ago. When I did the car shuddered quite a bit and when I applied the brakes again the pedal went to the floor. I...

Hey Todd, I have a 98 Century with ABS, sounds like you will have to bleed the lines again. The ABS only interupts the ability to skid and keep traction. Sometimes the cylinders can erupt when too much pulse is shot through the lines such as slamming brakes. These are found in the rotor assembly and brake pads in front of veh and you would see fluid around either front tire or both. If you are only seeing one puddle somewhere else then you might try inspecting the pedal it's self and the lines or cables that the pedal tells the master cylinder what to do. Either way it sounds like you will have to bleed the lines. Hope this helps,

1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra, brakes went to the floor with no warning and the Brake light came on-previous day there was a stange smell while stopped at red light . What could the problem be?

I'd be willing to bet that a brake line has rusted through, somewhere near the brake rotors or the exhaust. The smell was probably burning brake fluid. Check the fluid level in the resevior, If it's low, top it off and with the car off, pump the brakes and look for the puddle under the car. That should point you in the direction of the leak. Also check the wheel cylinders. This would require removing the rear wheels and brake drums. A bad master cylinder could also be the cause. If you don't have any fluid loss, i'd suspect the master.

Brakes are gone

check ur brake lines for posible leaks. also make sure to bleed your brakes after you put fluid into it or else the air won't come out of the brake lines causing ur pedal to still go to the floor
