Question about 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Jerky accelerating, late response to gas being pressed

I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Sometimes when I put my foot on the gas to reverse it doesn't do anything for a few seconds then starts reversing, but really jerky. This also happens when driving forward at traffic lights. When my car sits at a red light for awhile I can feel something happen below me, then when I hit the gas to go forward it jerks for awhile before it can accelerate smoothly. Any ideas?

Well for one, make sure you speed up slowly, dont HIT the accelerator. It may also be problems with your fuel filter. After you are stoped fuel stops running through the fuel pump/filter and then when you start going its starts to run through again and it cant keep up so it gets bubbles in it and doesnt move throught the filter easily hence the jerky accelerating. Good Luck

1999 oldsmobile intrigue stalls and surges under deceleration conditions only. Idles in neutral fine, accelerates fine, has no apparent miss. Can put in gear and travel great until under negative torque...

Do you have any codes? If so, what are they?
If not, this could be a mechanical problem with either the torque converter itself or some sort of stuck valve in the valve body inside the transmission.
I just replaced the valve body in my wife's 1999 Mercury Sable and it cleared up a number of problems she was having with shifting and torque converter lock up.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck!

Mpg for a 2000 olds intrigue

Hello,

The 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue gets 28 mpg city/hwy. If you dont think you are getting that, I suggest replacing the air cleaner, and running a few tanks of higher octane gas through.

Hope this helps.

2000 olds intriuge wont start unless ur pressing on gas and with that stil takes awhile to start

If you are having to step down on the accelerator to get it started, you are not actually pressing on the "gas", you are really pressing on the "air". This tells me that your engine is probably not getting enough air to start. The problem is most likely related to your Idle Air Control (IAC) motor.

However, the correct way to diagnose this would be to scan your Powertrain Control Module (PCM) for possible fault codes that could lead you to the cause. (MANY things can cause a "hard-start".)

Smoke coming from exhaust at higher speeds or when putting foot down, also acceleration jerky like am blipping the accelerator not cruising used to cruise 110 no bother now its taking it to reach 100

If the smoke is blue, it is burning oil. If it is black or dark grey it is running way too rich, like your choke is stuck on. That would also explaing the jerky acceleration and poor response. Your fuel consumption will also skyrocket.
