Question about 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

New Battery draining

I woke up to a no start one morning with my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, boosted the battery and got going. Went to the shop, they replaced battery and told me alternator was fine and charging. 8 days later, she wouldn't start again. Both times there seemed to be enough voltage to start, and both times nothing but a single click when I turned the key. The second time, I had someone give me a jump and went from a single click to normal start. No wek crank or anything. If it's not the battery or alternator, what could this be? Seems like something is draining the battery.

It sound as if there is a bad cell in your battery if you have another battery you can put in the car and try that for a few days and see what happens

Have someone else check your alternator with a voltmeter positive probe to the battery pole on backside of alternator. ground probe to a good engine ground. while running you should see at least 12.35 volts.any less it is bad

2002 jeep cherokee laredo won't start new battery

The Jeep DTC P1491 code is actually radiator fan control relay circuit.
Soft reset if the battery disconnect would have erased the code; the first thing I would replace for that code (fan relay).
Additionally, its possible thta your THEFT system is activated, check owners manual to disarm.
Hope this helps.

I have to boost my jeep every morning before work and after work 10hrs later, my gauges tell me my batter level is at 14 when it starts but i need a boost everyday...grrr

It sounds like the alternator is doing its job but the battery is not. This could be due to either a faulty battery or you may have some accessory draining the battery without you realizing it. Stop in at your local autozone and they will check it for you for free.

My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo won't start. It began to start then failed. Now it won't start at all. No clicking. Interior lights are on but the headlights make clicking noise continuously inside jeep...

Check that your battery has 12v, check and clean terminal contacts. If battery has less than 12v have it charged and load tested. 9 of 10 times this will get you going...if not, I'll give you the rest of testing later if you need it.

Cooling relay switch

Relay is in the power distribution center near the battery. does the fan go off when you remove the relay? Relay is turned on by the computer after it receives info from the temp sensor. Why didn't the "guy" order a new relay? Was he a tech in a shop?
