Which way does the valve and spring go in a cooling fan pump on a Lincoln LS?

If your talking about a water/coolant pump on the engine. Replace the pump. It's not supposed to fall apart . Same with the fan for the radiator.

How do you reset the engine codes for a 1997 lincoln? can you replace factory cat with a preformance cat system, that won't screw up the computer monitoring. i have the 32v intech and the first bank is...

You'll need an OBD II scan tool to clear them. A performance cat replacement is fine. I would replace it, due to the fact that alot of times the insides of the converter break apart inside.
