If your car has one, it is located in the large hose (duct) that goes between the air filter and the throttle body. (duct is two seperate parts with sensor body between them)

Open the hood and look at the top of the engine. You'll see 3100 stamped on the intake manifold. There is a black, large diameter hose connected to it. You just unscrew the hose clamp, pull the hose off and there you will see the MAFS bolted on with 4 bolts. There will also be a black electrical box that is plugged into the harness. Here is a link of what the part looks like!

Engine quits when automatic transmission shifted into gear

Sounds like the mass air flow sensor. Have the vehicle scanned for codes . Do the repairs the codes indicate and erase codes.

I have a 1995 ford taurus engine stalls when idling and smells of gas when accelerating it bucks. Changed fuel filter, could it be mass air flow sensor?

Start with smaller problems and check the fuel pressure regulator, the mass air flow sensor for these vehicles is pretty pricy. Is the check engine light on? If so, head to your nearest auto zone and have them check for trouble codes. If the check engine light isn't on, its not likely your mass air flow sensor

The mass air flow sensor is right by the airbox.... It has two screws holding it into a body. Unplug it, unscrew it, and take it out of the housing. Its literally in plain view. Take it out and CAREFULLY put the new one in. Make sure not to damage the electrodes on the new mass air flow sensor. It's not even six inches from where you put in the air filter. Intake hose going to the intake manifold.
