U will need to drop the steering column own, the switch is near the bottom of the column, it is operated via a rod from the lock cylinder.

To r/r the whole switch, first if you have an air bag, you need to disable the system. disconnect the battery of course, Then remove steering wheel/ air bag.so if you have the sir parts you will have to remove the snapring and remove the coil harness stuff out of the way so you can remove the wavy type washer. I think you then have to compress the lock plate on the shaft to remove the snap ring, get the retaining ring out of there, the lock plate, and then the turn signal stuff and the spring as well. try to keep the turn signal in the off position when you remove it, & unhook your cruise control wiring. then you can pull lever out and remove the hazard knob. I assume you have tilt, so you would have to unscrew it as well. you mightr have to remove the washer stuff. you should be able to get the signal out of there after you unhook its wiring plug. Now you can get the switch out/& the buzzer thing. to getthe lock out you have to put the key in the lock position & remove the screw/ cyl assy. Rick

Kevin, Ignition and door locks are different cut keys on 1966 Buick. the ignition key was square/octagon shape and the door lock/trunk key were oval.

agree on the ignition issue. however there is an eight hundred dollar part that needs replaced. its behind the glove box. had same prob. there is an engineer that created a bypass for two hundred. u can find him online just google ignition bypass or along those lines. i took a risk n bought it and it works great. dont need those keys anymore either.

1.) make sure the gear lever is completely in the P setting by just tapping the gear selector lever towards the front of the car

2.) If that fails inspect your ignition switch, I have had to replace mine twice on my 1993 Skylark

Could be fuel filter, best thing to do is chg. fuel filter and do a fuel pressure test, don't think for a moment that it can't be the pump they have been known to go out just that quick.
