Question about 1993 Chevrolet G20
Starting to wear out my starter, why is it taking so long to start. will not restart for at least an hour if driven for more than 20-30 min. sometimes it tries to stall if I get on the gas a little hard from a stop light. Also at a steady 45 mph or so it sometimes spits and sputters.
It sounds to me that you are in need of a Complete Tune UP. That is check the Fuel Pump, Change the Fuel Filter, Replace Spark Plugs, Wires, Cap and Rotor if so equipped and a general check that the Ignition Timing is advancing properly to specification as engine speed rises from Idle to Cruising RPM. Hard Starts are an indication of a number of things such as Inadequate Fuel, Weak Ignition components, Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Wires and other components in the Ignition system. I strongly suggest that you take your vehicle to an ASE Certified Mechanic that knows your specific Vehicle Brand and Model. Many Factory Service Bulletins are issued and chances are that several apply to your vehicles problems. Not knowing if you purchased it New and what service work has been performed over the years leads me to the conclusion that you need professional help. Any 16 Year Old Vehicle not performing properly needs professionally administered help.
