Question about 1998 Chevrolet K1500

Transmission Slipping? I am driving a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 Z71. Automatic Transmission. Vortec 350. Here is my is sue...If I am going down the road at 60 and floor it into passing gear it my transmission seems to be slipping. This is the only time I notice this. My RPM's on my engine go to 5,000 but my truck does not seem to go anywhere. I was thinking by engaging my 4 wheel drive would eliminate my transmission. It still seems like something is slipping in 4 wheel drive. When I floor it to passing gear it seems almost like I lose power. I have amazing power in every gear but this passing gear. Doesn't seem possible that my transmission is slipping. Is there something I can do to eliminate some of the potential problems? While I am in park I can give it as much gas as I want with out my motor cutting out. <- I thought it was a engine problem at first.

Putting it in four wheel drive does not eliminate the transmission. Honestly, it sounds like the transmission is on it's way out. A 4l60e in one of cars was acting the same way. It required a rebuild.

Need your trans rebuilt from the sounds of it! After time, the clutch discs inside wear out(Just like the clutch of a manual vehicle), and will start slipping.

Engine swap 5.0 vortec to 350 non computer controled

The computer runs the Transmission from the signals the throttle position sensor, crank shaft sensor, and cam shaft sensor. Your going to have to replace the transmission with an older transmission like the turbo 350 or turbo 400. When it's time to get the car e-tested, that's when your going to run in to problems, due to the year your Chevy is. If your Chevy was a 1985 then you could go with the carb system but with being the newer OBD11 system, your going to have an off road only vehicle with that swap. Why would you want to replace the engine with the 350 carb set up??? There are things you can do to tweak the one in your Chevy free of charge.

I have a 1998 chev z71 350 Vortec with a blown transmission (push button 4x4) Can i take the transmission out of a 1997 gmc sierra 5.7 liter (Not vortec) (manual shift 4x4) and stick it in my 1998?

Yea as long as they are both manual transmissions everything will bolt up the same.If you use your old transfer case you will still have push button.
