Question about 2003 Honda Civic
We have replaced the brake light twice and it's still not working properly. It lights up but when you apply the brakes it doesn't get brighter (like the other side of the car.) The garage says we need to replace the entire harness (500$), is this a scam?
Not sure that I would replace the harness just yet. Check the ground wire to see if it has a bad connection. If that is ok, use an ohm meter to check the ground in the socket. If it has high resistance, you can replace just the sockets. Cut the wires, then solder the wires from the new socket in place. The local parts store usually has these in stock. I've had to do this to a car last summer, wasn't very difficult.
