Mondeo mk3 TDDI 2.0 90ps,x reg- clutch and gears, manual

Hi :)

When egine is off gears runing fine but I can hear like the gearbox is dry ( like a gear shaft scrape on something )
When egngine is on:
- From N to 1st gear almost always hard to change, somethimes goes easy ( it helps if I drop it from 3rd or 5th gear, then comes really smoothly )

During the ride :
- From 3rd to 2nd gear ( rather not smooth )
- From 2nd to 3rd ( sometimes jumping like a spring when I touch it )

Those symptoms were all the time since I bought it 10 months ago.

From 2 weeks I can hear jingling when I press cluch ( from the very begening of presssing )

One older bloke told me to prepare 350 pounds for new 3 piece clutch + labour.

Is it really ?

Clutch slipping on my mk3 mondeo are the hard 2 change

It genrally depends, This dropping one side of the engine to take the gearbox off and replacing the clutch .when doing up the bolts the engine rotates so you have to have someone to help.the hardest bit i find is getting it back on as it has to fit on a drive shaft and it must be perfect and no weight can be put on it or you will either bend it or snap it.

hope this kinda gives you an idea.

Hi On driving a Suzuki Vitara JLX 96 P Reg

Sounds like a clutch problem to me.
So, with the engine off, can you select all gears? If yes, your gearbox is probably OK.
And now with the engine idling, can you select any gears with out crunching? If this is difficult, then try this next test in an area where movement forward or backwards won't be a problem.
With the engine OFF, foot ON the clutch, the handbrake OFF, and in 1st gear, start the car. BE READY TO TURN IT OFF.
If the car moved forward as you cranked the engine, then your clutch is not adjusted properly or has worn out. That is more-than-likely the smell you got before - burnt clutch disc from it slipping.
You can drive it, but every time you want to start off, you'll have to turn the engine off, select 1st then start the engine. Accelerate slowly, making sure the revs don't rise faster that you're speeding up, and change gear by judging engine revs between gears.
Don't keep driving it as it is, as you WILL have gearbox problems if you don't fix the clutch.

Changing gears is getting difficult and even when the engine is off when changing the gears with the clutch pressed i can hear some clicks from gearbox. is it the gearbox oil level low? vw polo 1.4 cl T...

Check fluid levels first and also check where the shifter comes through the floor and attaches to the rod going to the tranny, make sure that pivot point is not rusted. There's a plastic to metal bushing underneath on the shifter points. If it's rusted, it makes it really hard to shift. If both check out fine, only then look at possible internal issue. (PS - some clicking is normal.)

My gear selector is locked up. I can manually press a lever to unlock it and can then shift into gear. Once I get the gear selector unlocked, it works just fine.

Hi it sounds like the problem is with the clutch unless you vehicle is auto if its auto box then the chances are this needs replacing if you have manual gearbox then i would get the clutch replaced or looked at.
If the clutch is ok then it could be that the gear selector inside the gearbox is worn and needs replacing if this is the case then it would be cheaper to get a reconditioned gearbox as repairing it would cost about the same as a recon.
If you need further assistance then let me know ok
