Yes I have replaced the relay also, Keep in mind this truck has 290000 mi. on it . usualy you can hear the pump come on when you turn the key to the start position.the relay clicks in but no pump

  • flukeutwo Apr 18, 2009

yes the relay is new and working

  • josh1111 May 11, 2010

then you have to check power to the pump , does it need replaceing? have you checked the inertia switch under the dash?

  • josh1111 May 11, 2010

so none of the fuel pumps work? and you have power to the relay, right.

  • josh1111 May 11, 2010

have you tried fuel pump relay?

I have a 1992 ford f-150, the fuel pumps cut on for a second then cut off. what could it be they wont stay on

Try replacing the Fuel Tank Selector Switch, if you have two fuel tanks, remove it and inspect the back of it where the wire connector goes, inspect for burns also check the connector itself check for burns as well. Good Luck.

My truck has 2 gas tanks, I try to swich the tanks but it only sucks gas out of the rear tank it doesn't matter what the selecter is on what could be the problem?

I have an '87 Ford F150 just like it and have the same problem too. Most likely the front fuel tank's internal fuel pump is not working. The selector switch sends power to the fuel pump in the selected tank, which then pumps fuel to the high pressure pump mounted on the frame ahead of the dual fuel reservoir also mounted on the frame.

Fuel pump not running on 1995 F150 Ford Fuses good Swapped relay Twin tanks

if neither tank is working check the selector switch it is responsible for energizing both fuel pumps depending on the selection, if you have power to switch and power leaving switch than either its lost on the way to the fuel pump or the pump is bad in this case both?to confirm you must check for power at the pump, easiest is the front tank.

Truck fuel pump only runs if i jump off inside dash behind tank selector switch, already replaced steering column pump outside tank, pump relay tank selector switch relay pigtail dist moduel feel like...

mine was doing the same...switch was bad. a bit convoluted really but if your high pressure pump is running and not getting your tank pumps to go, unless you jump there at the switch harness prolly the switch.

1987 f-150 dual tanks fuel problem

You are right. There are three pumps. It sounds like the transfer pump in the front tank is bad. The in tank pumps just supply the high pressure pump to keep it primed. You need the front pump.

Front fuel tank will not work

You have duel tanks with a fuel pump in each tank. You also have a fuel pump on the frame rail after the "tank selector". This device only holds a fuel filter that protects the main fuel pump. When you select front or rear tank on the dash, you are selecting which in tank fuel pump will operate. You can check the in tank fuel pump by listening for it to "humm" when the key is turned on..The in tank pumps only feed the main pump and cannot run the engine on their own. Hope this helps

No fuel getting to the engine

Sometimes but what controls the switching is the selector thats right in front of the first tank closes to driver.Check your fuses first and have someone listen to the fuel pump and selector to hear any movement..You can also check for power at the selector if no power then follow wires up to rule out bad wires and fuses and relays..Also the thing you think is another pump is the tank selector. When you push button in dash thats what switches it to the tank you preferred..

When I switch from my front fuel tank to my rear tank gas stops

There is no selector valve on a 1995 ford f150 300 engine. The selector switch on the dash sends power to the pump in the selected tank. The pump then sends fuel to the engine. If engine won't run on the selected switch, the pump in that tank needs replaced.
