How to get the transmission codes

Does anyone know how to get a transmission code? I have a 04 grand cherokee and read somewhere where you can turn the key 3 times and get a trans code? Is this true or no. I have no check engine light on or anything but the transmission is not shifting right..Please help

On earlier models, the turn key worked...newer ones require a code reader...(98 &up) The good news is that most larger parts stores will now do this for free! (they sell more parts that way). Transmission shops also use a "flight recorder" as well...This gives them on the road blow by blow record of what the unit is doing...they charge for that!

The transmission is going into limp mode. You need a special scan tool capable of communicating with the transmission control module in order to find out what is causing the problem

The rpm of my 93' jeep grand cherokee,changes from 2,000 to 3,000 rpm,when i'm driving at 70 mph, it does this 3 or 4 times in a minute some times it doesn't do it ' i've changed the tps and it still does...


have u run a fault code test on the systems computer, this sounds like maybe a Vehicle speed sensor problem, the speed sensor is on the side of the transmission, but do the code test, here is how u do that, go to the link below for instruction's that apply to all Chrysler cars and trucks

go to your local auto parts store and have them read the code most auto parts stores read the code for free

Engine codes should be read with a scanner. If electronically controlled transmission, could be bad solenoid pack on transmission.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited P0700 diagnostic problem


P0700 means there is a transmission fault code in the transmission controller. Since the transmission controller doesn't have a light attached, it tells the engine controller to turn the light on using this code. You'll have to access the transmission controller to further diagnose the problem.

code 12 is start

13** No difference recognized between the engine MAP reading and the barometric (atmosphereic) pressure reading at start-up

Code 55 is end so 13 is all you need , basically your map isnt working
its an easy fix if thats all , take one off , put new one on

P1757 1T CCM 1996-2003 Cherokee, Grand Cherokee A/T Governor Pressure Above 3 PSI In Gear At 0 MPH Conditions: Engine started; vehicle driven to a speed over 30 mph, and the PCM detected the Governor Pressure Sensor was more than 3 psi with the requested pressure at 0 psi (95% duty cycle command) for 2.65 seconds. The fault must occur twice on one trip to set the code. Possible Causes: Check for the presence of other A/T related trouble codes Governor pressure Sensor is damaged or has failed Governor pressure Sensor VREF (5v) circuit is open or shorted Transmission valve body is leaking, damaged or has failed PCM has failed P1762 1T CCM 1996-2003 Cherokee, Grand Cherokee A/T Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Volts Too High/Low Conditions: Key on or engine running.
