Question about 1989 Audi 100
I have a 1989 Audi 100 Quattro with a 2.3 5 cylinder engine. Someone replaced the engine with a 1991 2.3 5 cylinder engine. I have rewired all the sensors to work correctly and replaced the o2 sensor. the car runs fine except at idle it runs at 500 rpm for a few seconds then goes up to 1200 rpm then back again all the time. The engine is running very rich and smokes a little bit. What is the problem?
I had a honda prelude that did the same exact thing and it was unbeleivably it was the altanator!!
