Question about 2001 Pontiac Aztek

High beams flicker then batt light come on with chime?

Just bought this 2001 aztek and it was fine for the first day but now the instrument panel has a mind of its own. The previous owner rebuilt the engine at a Pontiac dealers garage about a year ago, The owner said the instrument panel goes crazy once in a while but I thought it would be just a fuse or something. Please , if you have any ideas feel free to send them along Thanks

Thanks alot the battery cables might need cleaning cause I went out last night & started her up & took off the battery cable just to see if the altenator was working or not cause yesterday the high beam light in the dash was flickering then the battery light came on with some chimes to follow repeatedly till I got home . So alt is fine & dash was fine this morning then on the way home same thing again so I think I will clean the cables like you said thanks again

Yeah, I cleaned the cables/posts everything & checked battery but still the same. As always Trial & Elimination with a lot of aggrevation will be the only way to get this asstek working. But, Thanks for your feedback keep it coming if & when I find the problem/s I will surely pass it on

This sounds like my problem. i was told this was related to the bcm located under the radio on top a fuse block. i had the bcm replaced with the ajoining fues block, and tried to have it reprogrammed and it would not hold a program. I From my trials with this car, being over two years. I believe this to be a common aztek factory defect, and im not sure what the solution is but i doubt its a s easy as a dirty battery cable.

Do not remove the cables while the vehicle is running. You may damage some ecm components or cluster. I have seen some walmart batteries short internally also.

Why don't lights work?

Both the headlight switch and the BCM provide a ground, or control circuit, to the headlight relay coil circuit for manual or automatic headlamp operation. When you place the headlamp switch in the OFF position, and the ambient light sensor indicates low light conditions, the BCM energizes the headlamp relay for low beam operation. You may switch the headlights to high beam by pulling the dimmer switch handle toward you until the dimmer switch is activated. When the dimmer switch is placed in the HIGH position, the indicator lamp input to the BCM is pulled low. The BCM then sends a class 2 message to the instrument cluster in order to illuminate the high beam indicator lamp.
Low and High Beams Headlamps Inoperative ?
Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .
Did you check the headlamp relay ? Location ,left instrument panel

Why do my all my lights work on my 2001 GMC jimmy except my low beams.

Replace the turn signal switch. All the exterior lights run threw it except the high brake light. There is a small plastic clip/switch in it that controls high and low setting. Because of heat it starts to melt and quits working.

Aztek high beams come on when right blinker is on

Your blinker arm control unit is bad have it replaced it will cure your problem. What it is doing when you turn on your blinker the unit has a short in it and causing the high beams to come on. As they all work of off the same controler.

Ok I have seen tons of posts about this issue with the Pontiac Sunfire, but no clear solution. I have a 2001 Sunfire the yesterday the Day Running Lights quit working. My passenger side head light will...

First check the R/S headlight fuse in the dash fuse panel (left side), second make sure the R/S low beam headlight bulb filament isn't blown, both these scenarios will do what you are saying. The DRL's work when both low beam lights are in series, thus only 6v going to each bulb at reduced brilliance. The high beam is a totally separate circuit controlled by the multifunction switch. The DRL relay is controlled by the Body Control Module, grounded there, and it will also illuminate the service vehicle soon light. It could also be a bad ground at G204. Its on the steering column support bracket.

Sarvice engine soon light on high beem light flashing

When you see the high beam light flashing, it means you have a high beam burnt out. It flashes when you put it in gear because your high beams actually double as your daytime running lights, only on a lower power. They're fairly easy to change.
