How to replace the wiper motor on a 1988 Ford F-150

I have 1988 Ford F-150. Everytime I turn on the wipers the motor that turns them is making the loudest sound. Then if they are on low or high for to long the wipers will completely quit. I had a 1987 same model and all. I tried to take the wiper motor off of it but couldnt get it to come out without the wipers comin up. So could yaw help me in how to remove the wiper motor. Thanks for all your help.

1988 jeep cherokee,6 cylinder my front windsheild wipers dont work.fuse is good.the wiper motor makes a noise when its turned there a relay that could be faulty?wiper switch is the same as the turn...

No relay in the circuit.
There is a delay module but if it fails that usually causes the wipers to stop in the middle of travel or only run on high.
And the switch is working if you hear noise coming from the motor. The wiper switch is not the same switch as the turn signals but it is near that assembly.
I would say if you have power to the wiper motor the motor is probably dead or something happened to the linkage to the arms.

How to replace wiper motor on a 1994 Ford F-150

  • Locate the wiper motor, and disconnect the electrical wires from it by unplugging them. The wiper motor is in the engine compartment against the back firewall near the driver's side.
Disconnect the wiper arms from the wiper motor linkage by using the pliers to remove the clip.
Locate the wiper motor in the engine compartment on the back firewall and remove it with the proper size wrench. There are three attaching bolts.
Remove the wiper motor by twisting it around if you have to. The wiper arm linkage will come out with it. good-day !

  • 3Remove the cowl grill under the windshield wipers using the proper size screwdriver. This is the grill that you see under the wiper arms before the engine compartment hood starts.

The wipers work in the auxilarry ignition possition ,but not in the run possition.Where is the wiper motor located?

The motor runs the linkage which moves the wipers, so it is under the wipers. Look through the narrow grill area right in front of the windshield and you will see it or the linkage. I would check the switches before the motor if it is running in AUX position.

1998 F-150 4x4, wipers stopped in mid sweep and remained there. I can hear the motor cycling but the arms don't move. It's probably a nuts off the wiper motor but how do I get to it?

Open the hood. The motor and linkages are mounted on the bulkhead just below the windscreen. As you mentioned its probably the linkage.

The windshield wipers on my 1988 F-150 stopped working. When you turn them on, the battery indicator jumps around like it's sucking power, but it seems to be jammed or something. any ideas? Thanks, Ed

suspect short circuit in wiper motor may need replacement
suspect motor has come away from wiper mechanism so it is turning but not driving the wiper arms as it has become disconnected.

I have a 1988 f-150 4x4. Just replaced interval wiper switch, the interval feature is very inconsistant. Is there an inline power source and where is it located.

is it just the interval part that is not working correctly? if so there is a wiper governor that is plugged inline with the switch that might be the cause
