If the alarm is after market, take it off. These after market alarms, and remote starts play havoc with vehicles. Unless it came from the factory, I would not have one installed. No matter who did the work. You will find that most shops will charge extra if they have to work around after market wiring to fix a electrical problem.

As an after thought. . . do you have the right keys? Maybe your battery is dead. Start with the simple stuff first.

How to reset my security on my 1997 pontiac grand prix

Unfortunately there is no resetting. You need to either replace your ignition lock cylinder and have the new ones tumbler pins changed to your original key. Or have your VATSS system bypassed. A stereo shop that installs remote start systems will be able to help you with the bypass.

1994 jeep grand cherokee

There is a security feature that will allow to go for a short distance but will stop. It is basically the same as the alarm, when you lock your doors, and then shut the door as you exit, there is a red security light that will blink in the dash. If you manually unlock and open any other door besides the driver door, the alarm will go off. To disable the alarm you have to cycle the key in the driver door. The same goes for the security feature. Cycling the key in the driver door lock manually, should disable the security feature until the doors are locked again. There may be a problem with the remote if you use it instead of you key to unlock your door.
