Question about 1999 Ford Ranger SuperCab

Odometer, Tripometer don't turn and Tachometer jumps erratically

Someone told me I need to replace the "cluster" and I have no idea how to identify this part. I wonder how I can find it and if anyone knows of other problem items that could be causing this.

The odometer, tip are call a cluster .it come out in one pice.i think there is 4 scew that hold it in. good luck

What would cause fuel gauge to stop working, and tripometer, and odometer to stop working?


I don't know that any one thing would cause these issues.

As for the fuel gauge, you may need to replace the sending unit in the tank.

As for the trip/odometer, you may need to replace the gears.

After disconnect and reconnect the battery of my opel antara, the indication of odometer displays only 888... for all indications. How can i reset it?

Instrument cluster consists of electronic analog gauges, various warning lights, and optional tachometer. Vehicles equipped with tachometer have an electronic vacuum fluorescent transmission range indicator (PRND3L),odometer and trip odometer display. Vehicles without tachometer are equipped with a cable-operated transmission range indicator.
Instrument cluster is equipped with the following warning lights:
Battery voltage.
Cruise (speed control).
Door ajar.
Fasten seat belt.
Lift gate ajar.
Low fuel level.
Low windshield and washer level.
Traction Control.
The Body Control Module (BCM), which receives input from various sensors, sends display information to instrument cluster and operates gauges. Instrument cluster incorporates a self-test diagnostic feature to identify electronic problems. BCM, Powertrain Control Module (PCM), and Transmission Control Module (TCM) are continuously monitored by the diagnostic system.

SELF-DIAGNOSTICS
With ignition off, press and hold TRIP and RESET buttons while turning ignition switch to ON position. Continue to hold TRIP and RESET buttons until odometer window displays CODE (approximately 5 seconds). If problem exists, system will display diagnostic trouble codes. See DIAGNOSTIC CODE CHART table. If no problem exists, Code 999 (end test) will be displayed.

My nissan Almera S reg has no side lights or dash lights.All fuses seem ok.

Where is cluster for speedometer lights


The "cluster" means all of the things you see under the plastic cover in front of the driver, the 'gauges'. The term is a reference to the 'instrument cluster' including speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, idiot lights, temperature gauge, everything.
Get a second independent opinion since this is very unusual. Most likely you have a blown fuse.

Tachometer 1997 pathfinder erratic RPM


I just solved this problem on my 1997 with 183K miles . First I checked all of the following:1) sensor on distributor; 2) wires from distributor to back of instrument cluster; 3) connections of wires to instrument cluster; 4) 4 screens going through the soft circuit board to tachometer; 5) the SOLUTION- I removed the tachometer from the instrument cluster and looked at the hard circuit board of the tachometer. On one side there is a plastic square housing about 1/4 x 3/8" soldered to the circuit board that has a plastic screw facing out. it was lose, so I tighten it and now my tachometer is OK. A simple test to check for this type of an error is hit your dash when the tachometer is erratic. if you see a fluctuation based on the tap on the dash you either have a lose connection of some type like this one. Fix is easy, once you have the instrument cluster out you only have to remove the four screws on the back of the cluster holding the tachometer in place. Remove the tachometer carefully and tighten the plastic screw being careful not to over tighten.

Odometer/speedometer cable malfunction


Sounds like you may have a defective instrument cluster.You will have to replace the cluster or have it repaired.Dorman Products have replacement clusters.

I have a 1989 Isuzu Trooper, 6 cyl, manual, 4-door, 4X4. The speedometer/odometer/tripometer unit stopped working. I have a replacement, but I'm not sure how to turn the numbers on the new one to match...


mcdevito75 here, Double check with your local repair shop, and or Georgia motor vehicle dept. about this repair. Also I don:t think you can change the numbers on your replacement unit, it should be sealed.

Speedometer and Tachometer


It could have a short behind the dash where you pushed the tripometer. Check all your fuses and you will find one for your gauges thats bad replace if and see if it works, Hope so Take care
