Your interior light switch (adjusts the brightness of the dash lights) is probably all the way "on". I have done this a few times by accident.

How do I fix a dome light short?

First check to see if all the door pin switches on the door jambs are working ok. There is a rubber piece over it, when you open the door the switch completes the circuit to ground and the light turns on. Sometimes they get grimmy and stick.
Also, there is a small rotary switch on the instroment cluster, left of the steering wheel that can get bumped and turn on the interior light(s). Check it to see that it is turned off.
If either of these doesn't fix the problem, the light is picking up a ground somewhere. I would remove the bulb to prevent the battery from running down; until you can locate the problem.

How do I turn the inside ligts off in my 1992 buick skylark (dome light)

Take a close look at the picture below.
mustgo_85.jpg

This is the dimmer switch.
It's also control on / off function.
=======
In addition to this switch on the dashboard there are pin switch on each door.
Check and make sure all the pin switches are OK.

A damage pin switch will keep the dome light on.
If this is the case then remove the dome light bulb unit you has time to to repair the damage pin switch.

The battery keeps draining i can charge it runs. park it at night it runs the battery down. i have tried a new battery.tried charging it and not driving the truck and at still drain the juice.

remove the pos battery terminal and connect a test light to the cable and battery, remove the fuses one at a time till the light goes out, remember the dome light is on when checking interior fuses. either remove the bulb or push the door button in, this will direct you to the circuit that has the problem

How do I remove the door panel on a Ford F250 Supercab. I'm trying to find the switch for the ''doors adjar' light which won't go off and subsequently keeps my dome and outside bed light on and draws down...

the door adjar switch is the problem. the cargo light stays on until 35mph, as well as the overhead dome light. i just took the bulb out of the dome light and dont worry about the cargo light. it stays on for 30 min after the truck is turned off if the switch didnt trip properly. it shouldnt cause any problems as long as your batteries are good. i havent replaced the switch yet but it should be on the part of the door by the latch. get the replacement part and do a visual I.D. when you get the panel off. then replace it. the sensor is only 14$

Security light stays on and occasionly something runs down battery overnight .since i lost my keys with remote opener these problems have come up. this car is a 1994 buick park ave ultra.

One of the door pin switches is faulty, Interior light must be staying on and draining the battery. If you don't see the dome light staying on possibly the trunk switch is bad.

When door's are open or radio is playing while the car is not running it kill's the battery. The altenater is good and so is the battery.

How long are you talking about?

Radio, and the inside dome light, use electricity.

f you are talking 15-20 minutes, then I'd say your battery is not holding a good charge.

If you are talking 8 hours, then, can't necessarily expect the battery to hold up that long.

Not sure where in-between those two numbers you should consider it a problem. However, you should have an option to turn off the dome light and save battery power.

Also, repeated drainings of the battery like this can cause a battery to fail.

(My wife once ran the seat heaters on my Tahoe with the engine off to stay warm while she waitied for someone in the store, and then was shocked when it would not start.)

My inside coursty and dome light stays on when i open the door. i took the fuse out to keep the battery from running down but the horn and back door latch works off of the same fuse. its a 1996 blazer.

There is a dome override switch located below the head lamp switch make sure it is in the off position - if it is ok - open the driver side door look on the side on the instrument panel for a little black plunger - that is the switch for the dome lamp and courtsey lamps if it is broken or not there this will cause the lights to stay on. It will have to be replaced if it is broken or missing.

When I shut off the ignition the radio and dome light stayed on

I have the same truck. The thing is designed so that the radio and dome light and even the windows will operate for a time which should expire immediately when you open the door. Try turning on the radio with engine running and then turn off the engine and just sit there and the radio should still play. Try the power windows - they too should go up and down. Finally open the drivers door and that should immediately kill the radio, windows and dome light. If it does not - you will need to report that problem to your dealer since the problem is in that timer feature which is part of the vehicles "brain". Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Dome light stays on, power windows don't work... 1999 Jeep

Check for a broken 12V+ or broken ground wire in the rubber boot that goes from the drivers door to the hinge pillar. Had this problem on mine and found both wires broken from years of flexing when door opened and closed. Don't try to splice the break, as the wire is too short and is also brittle. Run new (same guage) wire through the boot and splice inside the door and under the left side kick panel.
