Question about 2002 Chrysler Town & Country

When I brake to slow down, it feels as if something is slipping. Not sure if it is transmssion or brake or ?. I have a 2002 Chrysler TOwn and COuntry Limited. There is no slipping when I accelerate. The slipping increases in intensity if I am going fast and apply brake.

2002 chrysler town and country shudders when braking and also when driving at certain speeds

Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak, Or if it shudders on breaking it could be the disks or rotors are warped. The part where you say it feels like it's not getting enough air is an indication that the engine has a vacuum problem. How does it feel at idle? Trouble shooting is like going to the doctor, the more information the better. If the symptoms happen on cold starts, or is it random. Does it only happen when you break? If you put the gear in neutral and coast and you hit the breaks does it do the same thing? let's try and narrow it down, let me know? GE

A rattle somewhere between the brake pedal and the maste cylinder. Brakes and all busings between master cylinder and wheel have been checked and rebuilt, struts need replacing but the rattle is not

Hi , I cant think of anything between the pedal and booster that would cause this noise, does the steering wobble ? if so could be something in that system , wheel bearings ok ? this is a tough one to diagnose without hearing it

How to replace front struts on 2002 chrysler town and country

Front struts? Basically you take the two large bolts off of the hub at bottom of the strut and the 3 bolts under the hood above the strut, be sure the brake line bracket is unbolted from it.
you will need a spring compressor to remove the old strut from the spring.
BE WARNED the spring is under a lot of pressure, use extreme caution!

I drove my chrysler town and country this morning, when I went out to drive again the tail lights were on evenwhen the car was off. Its a 2002

are you sure its the tail lights and not the stop lights , could be the stop light switch that is under the dash and right above the brake pedal may be stuck.

Acan you tell me why my brakes feel like they lift up when i start to slide on ice?? It is a town and country van, and it has some kind of traction setup, but im not sure what its called.

This is the feeling you get when ABS (anti lock brakes) sense a loss of traction. You'll feel almost like the pedal is pushing back against your foot. You may also notice a "humming" sound associated with this action.

When the system sense a slide it will alternately (very rapidly) apply then release pressure to the brakes, in an effort to slow the vehicle without sliding the tires.

I imagine you only notice this on very slippery surfaces, right?

From what I see in your description, there is nothing to worry about. If you continue to feel unsure about it, have a reputable local mechanic have a look at it.

Good luck!

Van dies for no reason when you have your foot on the brake, starts right back up chrysler dealer finds nothing wrong

There is a vacuum line from the intake manifold or a provision thereof that goes thru a small black check valve on the brake vacuum booster. The idea is the vacuum assists when the driver applies the brake and augments the force applied to the brakes. It sounds like your diaphram in the vacuum booster may be torn or ruptured or the check valve may be bad.
The booster is the large round (about 10" diameter) component that the brake master cylinder is mounted to. The check valve is easy to change and you can pick one up at any auto part store. The vacuum hose just slips over the check valve and it slips into a grommet in the vacuum booster.
I would focus in that area and it sounds like your Chrysler mechanic has a case of cranial rectumitice. Let me know what you find out, I am curious.

Where is the location where i add brake fluid to a chrysler town and country. my brake and anti lock brake ligfht are both on

unless you know how to bleed brake lines, do not attempt to add brake fluid as you will also introduce air into the lines. have a local shop you trust do the work.
