My a/c has not worked for some time. I believe it

My a/c has not worked for some time. I believe it is the compressor. I would hate to spend $1,000 getting it replaced when my car is only worth $1,000. Is there any trouble shooting I can do to see if it is something that can be fixed with the existing compressor? Thank you for your help!

I assumed that you know how the system works because you believe that its not working because of the compressor. Common problem with the compressor is the magnetic clutch or the relay. Have you checked it? Another problem is loose compression. It is when the discharge pressure is almost the same as the suction, or suction press is high, discharge pressure is low. Have you checked this?

How much should it cost to replace condenser, compressor, refill the Freon, a chip filter, and labor for the A/C in a Camry 04? Is $1,000 too much?

No, that sound reasonable, assuming they are using a new compressor and not a remanufactured one. They will not work out well.

There is a small oil leak in the engine seal. My mechanic showed me where it leaks and that because the seal is permanent, the engine has to be taken apart and resealed at a cost of about $1,000. He...

$1000 is not that much to spend on a seven yrear old car, but if the leak is minor just ignore it, and keep an eye on the level, you could try an oil additive, some expand seals ,

I have a 2001 Acura 3.2 TL headlight goes on and off

As with Laurenson 538, I have the same problem with my 2001 CL.

Should this problem with the 2001 Acuras be a recall issue? I, too, have replaced the headlight assembly ($1,000 plus). The old one (sealed[?]) had moisture in it... the reported cause of the light burning out. Within a short period, the $1000 replacement had moisture in it and has just burned out again.

Now, at a different Acura agency, I'm told that the bulb needs another $1,000 replacement. When I asked about the warranty, I was advised 90 days was the warranty. When I asked if I was expected to spend $1,000 every 90 days to be able to drive the car, the rep got defensive.
Writing Acura resulted in a big Zero. Before buying a new Acura, one might inquire about the headlights. Since one can't drive without headlights, maybe Acuras should be reserved for daylight driving only! Have a backup car for night driving!

I have a 2004 chevy malibu clasic. The light for the control panel for the AC flickers on and off the compressor also goes on and off at the same time. The engine feels like it will shut off. I turn off...

I am having the same problem and I hate to tell you it will never end. The light blinking along with the ac compressor cycling is the control unit. (I think it should be a recall item but, it isn't) You will need to find a company who has a 1year warranty on their parts because it will keep happening as long as you own the car. Mine does it every couple of months. Believe it or not, the turn signal has nothing to do with it. That is another problem on its own. I have found that when that happens hit your hazard button a couple of times and the turn signal will work again for a while. That problem is that the hazard switch needs to be replaced. My car is in the Shop right now over those same two problems. Good luck! This car isn't cheap.

A/c would blow air, but not cold for some time.

you might check the fuse box & relays. and the ac shouldn't cost quite that much if you buy the part yourself. if you tell me what year, model, and engine i can look up part # and cost for you. the labor shouldn't cost more than $300 if you bring your own compressor.
