Car will start, but will not shift out of "park'

Could be the brake switch, or the shift lock solenoid.
You should be able to shift into neutral by turning the key to unlock but not to the on position, then crank it in neutral.

1997 Toyota camry won't start or come out of park. What can I do?

There is a shift lock button located next to shifter. Look for a small cover and remove it. You may use flat head screw driver if you don't have shift lock tool. These will free you shifter. Try starting on neutral using break.

How do I get my gear shift unstuck when its locked in park on a level ground

Get a flat head screwdriver. There should be a small rectangular cover on the console near the gear shift lever. Pop out the cover and insert the screwdriver into the slot, push down firmly and the shifter should release. be sure to step on the brake in the mean time. Sometimes you can use your car key.

1995 toyota avalon will not start and gear shift is frozen -just had car serviced yesterday. battery seems good, dash lights come on and there is just a loud clicking sound. Car will not start, gear...

Sounds like a battery problem. The clicking sound is usually the starter solenoid trying to engage the starter but not enough voltage or amps. There has to be enough power or you will not be able to move shifter assuming you pushed the brake pedal down while trying to shift out of park. And, it hasn't been noted whether it is a manual or auto trans.
