1989 Chrysler 5th ave, shuts off when idling, hard to start,

I recently got a 89 5th avenue. I replaced the starter and changed oil/filter, transmission/filter, sparks & plugs. I drove the car from Virginia to Georgia with no problems except the heat not working. Couple days later it acted like it wasn't getting enough gas and started shutting off. I changed the fuel filter and it's only gotten worse. Shutting off when idling and hard to start.

Check the throttle body butterfly flap, its propably very dirty, holding off the flap at idle will cut it out. If its dirty, then get a can of carburrettor cleaning spray and clean the throttle body, that should do the trick. Hope that helps

I have a 89 buick park avenue ultra. my

the transmission breaking apart but in a really slow way. There's not a thing that can be done to save it. It's going to someday give out. You can prolong it by not punching on the pedal to test it. just drive it normally and DON"T get the trans oil change. Just leave it alone... I own 89 P/Ave 156,000 original owner. Same thing happened to my car and picked up a used trans at junk yard and my mechanic installed it and runs like a baby at half the price(700.00). If you go to junk yards half of the park ave are because of trans. Good luck
