It does not have universal joints it has cv joints
if you can go to an open parking lot and turn both directions in a tight circle if they are going bad they will click if your turning left and hear clicking it is the right side and if your turning right it will be the left one

I have a vibration at 70 miles per hour

if the wheel alignment is faulty ( castor wobble ) at 70 mph there is no way that you can describe it as a vibration as it virtually rip the steering wheel out of your hands. If it is a torque converter problem then at around 3850-4025 rpm stationary there will be a vibration of the vehicle and engine The sort of vibration that you are experiencing at 70 mph will come from a drive line problem. If rear wheel drive then it could be faulty "U" joints, worn slip joint or failed rear engine mount
If front wheel drive it may be cv joints or bent drive shafts, wheel bearings or brake callipers not moving freely on the mounting bolts.

Grinding noise front drivers side 2010 town and country

Is the noise constant and changes rate dependent on the speed of the vehicle? Or, is it cyclic in nature. I am thinking your wheel bearings, inner/outer CV joints or a loose caliper mounting bolt. Does the problem come up when you are driving straight or turning or when you go over a bump. Many possibilities... Need for info on the problem.

This sounds like it is very possible bad u-joints. This is actually not a hard job or expensive at all. The u-joints wear out over time from the drive shaft spinning and would cause what you are describing. If this is not something you know how to do yourself, when you go to the mechanic pretend that you know what it is and have them check the u-joints.

it sounds like a ball joint which is located by the wheel. jack up that wheel and try to move it side to side and up and down by hand. If it moves then your ball joints are bad. You can do the work yourself, however you will need a ball joint press. If it is a ball joint I would get if fixed quick, when a ball joint breaks the wheel will either lay over sideways or go up and rip the fender off the van.

vibrations can occur on front wheel drive vehicles from the CV Joint   it is similar to a universal joint   if the rubber boot around it ruptures and water gets in it can seize and cause vibrations that would become noticeable at certain speeds    I have also seen vehicles that have the main bearing in the engine have wear that would cause vibration in the engine itself

Check the universal joints in the drive shaft to rear axel. 120,000 miles, its time for replacement. Safety hazard exist, check soon. Also transmission filter should have been serviced at 60,000 miles. Its time.

Steering wheel violently shakes.

that is usually caused by bad engine mount this condition usually changes the distance of the cv joint and the differential which cause the cv joint to shake. also check your ball joints.

When the van is driven my front end is making a knocking noise my front driver side wheel shakes and the steering wheel shakes

Front wheel drive cars have CV joints in the axles to permit the wheel to turn for steering. The CV joint is basically a universal joint on steroids. When they ware out it can cause this type of condition.
