Question about 2001 Isuzu Rodeo

1 Answer

Won't start I have a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo which just quit on me the other day. It sounds like it wants to start, but it will not turn over. The mechanic has put it on the computer and it shows nothing - he thought it was a timing switch (not sure if that's right or not), but ordered part and it still would not work. Any suggestions?

I did not, however the man working on my car at the time wiggled some wires on/in steering column and it started, but when he let them go, it shut off again. He called somewhere in FL (isuzu dealer) and they told him it sounded like the engine harness needs to be replaced. What do you think?

Have someone look at the valve-train movement through the oil fill cap while you crank the engine. Be careful of the fan and pulleys in front of the motor while cranking the engine. if you don't see the camshaft rotating inside the oil fill cap then your timing belt has failed. Did you have to jump-start this Rodeo?

sounds loke the ignition switch in the column is defective. If you have confidence in this mechanic then have him change this part. If you need any other assistance let me know. Keep me posted.

Good day, I have a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo LS 2WD, manual transmission. A week ago I started having problems starting my truck, seems like the ignition switch was not working, I have to crank it up to four t

Could be your fuel pump failing. Try this; turn ign key to "on", not "start" then off after 5 seconds. Do this several times then try "start". If it starts right up this time, your fuel pump could be going bad, or the fuel pressure is dropping for whatever reason.

My 4x4 hubs won't lock on my 96 Isuzu rodeo

I assume they are manual locking hubs? Once you engage the hubs and select 4WD you must reverse a few meters and you will hear them click into place, If they don't lock in your hubs may need servicing, They are quite easy to dismantle and re-grease which you can do yourself if you are handy with mechanical buts and pieces.

2001 isuzu rodeo doesnt always start. new

Dirty terminals, happens all the time. Did you have the battery tested? Or just know it's OK? Did you check the water? How about the electrolytes? Get the terminals cleaned off with a wire brush, and scrape the insides, make sure they are tight. I have replaced more batteries this week, must be the weather. One was stone dead, 5 volts and still started the car?? Couldn't believe it, good car. The other 2 were dead with 12+ volts but wouldn't start anything, both got new terminals, and both got cleaned up. NO problems. Check it out. Lastly, the solenoid in the starter could be bad if everything else checks out, whack it with a hammer while turning the key, if it jumps, you found it.
