Question about 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Blown number 12 fuse from fuse box not pdc

My son hooked battery up backwards and shorted the fusible link to starter, I repaired fusible link but now fuse 12 seems to be shorted to grd. I do not see any melted wires on the circuits supposedly involved add to that, the schematic I have does not give a good look at ignition switch.
Any help would be appreciated, besides telling my son to let dad do it next time.
Paul
ps, I pulled all the fuses and relays in pdc, short is gone when fuse 1 in pdc is pulled 30amp ignition start fuse

SOURCE: how to fix a blown rad fan fuse and relay for '99 concocorde

The seized radiator fan has probably caused the current overload that blew the fuse and subsequently damaged the fan supply relay.
Repair or replace the seized fan if possible.
If not able to replace/repair immediatley, temporarily leave the fan disconnected, but be aware it may cause engine to overheat when vehicle in operation and will definitly need to be fixed before the vehicle is fully serviceable.

Replace the fuse and fan supply relay if faulty and repair/replace any burnt wiring.
I would not recommend re-arranging the wiring or fuses in any way - as that may cause further damage - especially if you don't know exactly what you are doing.

Put the fuses back in,and unplug the fuel pump from the tank, and turn the key on,if it does not blow the fuse, then the pump is the problem.Rate this if it is helpful, thank you.

My 2001subaru forester won't start I changed the bat. and nothing no headlights no radio but the emergency flashers work and the door chime.

If jump starting one hooks up backwards, even just a moment, it is possible to blow a fuse or fusible link, and on some cars even damage the ECU or other components. Check all fuses, then fusible links. Good luck.

Replaced battery in 1993 jeep wrangler. It has no power at all...

Do you mean that even with new battery you have no electrics to anything? Lights? Radio? If true, either your battery connections are terrible, or you have blown fusible links.

92 plymouth voyager wont start and nothing work the windows wont go down the lock and unlock button does nothing idk what the problem is i had the battery tested and the battery is fine what would cause...

Nothing works? How about the headlights, do they work? If yes, then start checking all fuses in the Power Distribution Center or Box under the hood. If no, then look for a bad maxi-fuse in the PDC, and check for a bad fusible link between the battery and the PDC. The battery positive cable goes to the starter, but a pigtail lead off the positive would go to the PDC, to distribute power to all the various circuits on the car.
When you turn the key to on, does the dash light up? If yes, at least power is getting to, and going through the ignition switch. One could then check for power on the starter solenoid wire when key was held in crank or start position.
If nothing when turning key to on-no dash lights, nothing-then check for an ignition fuse in the PDC. If fuse is good check for power being available at the ignition switch connector. If no power there, check wiring between PDC and the ignition switch-if power is up to the switch, but nothing happens with key on, no dash or warning lights, then could have a bad ignition switch.
It just sounds like a maxi-fuse has blown, or a bad fusible link. Good luck.

Hooked up battery backwards car will trun over but seems like there is no spark

You may have blown out a fusible link. They can be cut out and replaced. Look around the battery for a wire whose insulation looks partially melted, or bubbled out a bit. Fusible links act like fuses and burn out before further damage in the wiring circuits occur. They are located near the battery because they distribute power to different circuits. Today, maxi-fuses in power distribution boxes or centers have largely done away with fusible links.

I changed the battery on my 01 caravan n now the blinkers dont work nor do any of the gages ive done all the fuses and checked all the battery connections can anyone help

Either the battery got hooked up backwards and there is a blown fuse or a burned fusible link, or you did not connect all the wires to the positive battery terminal (there should be three).

I'm sure that if it got hooked up backwards, you will know about it (there would have been lots of sparking going on).

If this is the case, check fuse #24 in the Power Distribution Center (20 Amp) in the engine compartment. If this fuse is good, it should have power on BOTH sides of the fuse when it is checked with a test lamp. If there is no power on either side, then the fusible link either did not get connected to the battery or is got fried. The fusible link itself is ORANGE and is a 20-Gauge fusible link.

I put my battery in wrong in my 95 avalon now nothing happens when I trun the key, whats wrong?

It all depends on how lucky you are today. Connecting the battery backwards can destroy some high-dollar stuff. If you are really lucky, you will only have a blown fuse (or fuses). Check both of your main fuse blocks on the left side of the engine compartment,
One of the boxes is called the "Fusible Link" box and the other is called the "Engine Compartment Junction Block" (J/B) (See picture below).
Your main circuits are protected by the 40 Amp and 80 Amp fusible links in the Fusible Link box and the 120 Amp Alternator Fuse in the Junction Block. You will most likely find one or more of these fuses/fusible links blown.

Where is the fusible link for 1999 dodge ram

I know that fusible links on GM cars come directly off of the starter positive terminal. They can be identified by looking for a cylindrical (3/4" long by 1/2" in diameter) barrel of plastic on a colored piece of wire. If the technician pulls on a fusible link which is about 8" long (replacement), then the wire insulation will stretch by about 1" to 3" indicating the wire inside has broken.
---
I looked up fusible link on the 1999 Dodge Ram and came up with this information which is a little bit different as far as form factor:

Fusible Links Removal & Installation All Engines To Remove:
NOTE: If a generator cartridge fuse fails, be certain to inspect and test the vehicle charging system before replacing the cartridge fuse and returning the vehicle to service.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • The negative battery cable
    • The cover from the Power Distribution Center (PDC)
    • The two screws securing the generator cartridge fuse to the two B(+) terminal stud bus bars within the PDC
    • The generator cartridge fuse from the PDC
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • The generator cartridge fuse onto the two B(+) terminal stud bus bars within the PDC
    • The two screws securing the generator cartridge fuse to the two B(+) terminal stud bus bars within the PDC
    • Tighten the screws
      1. Torque to: 30 in. lbs. (3.4 Nm)
NOTE: Ensure that both screws are tightened to the proper torque values.
    • The cover onto the PDC
    • The negative battery cable

2005 chevy tahoe battery was hooked up backward !! Not me ! But, Where do I start ?

Start by checking all of the fuses and all of the fusible link wires, and you will know a fusible link wire when you find one because they will stretch similar to a rubber band. Fusible link wires are usually located at the fuse/relay junction box in the engine compartment, or at the starter solenoid, or sometimes at the fire-wall. Also check the fuse/relay junction box for any PAL type of fusible links.

Can't find fuse box on 2004 ford explorer.....

It would either be under dash or on side of kick panel, or behind or under glove box. Also under hood in black box on firewall.

If you find the fuse and it is good, than I would check the fusible link that runs off battery and heads to ignition system. The little black fuse inside fusible link can blow while jumping or connecting battery cables backwards.
