1998 Honda Accord Audio Problem

My audio system shut off on me and won't turn on. Could it be from a bad fuse or wiring problem?

It seems to be a short in electrical system since the audio system abruptly stopped working while I was playing my iPod through an FM transmitter.

I replaced the fuse and the audio system works fine again until I plug in the FM transmitter. After going through four fuses, I've come to a conclusion that it must be an electrical system issue.

If you disconnected the battery you need to put in the security code for it to work again. it has an anti theft device in it. if you dont have the code go to a honda dealership. or check the connection behind the radio its easy to do

1998 honda accord shut off while driving and won't start; next day it does.

One common problem with Honda cars is the fuel pump relay.
I would check that first. Do you know if you have spark to the plugs when it won't start ?

MY 98 honda accord ac fuse keeps blowing. What's making it blow the fuse?

hey there,
it may simply be a bad body / loom earth or a chafed wire making contact with the bodyork. You never know, maybe its as simple as an underpowered fuse being used mistakenly. You`ll need to trace the wires directly or by using wiring diagrams for your vehicle.

Gauge cluster lights won;t light - replaced cluster, dimmer switch - did put new stereo in car? Fuses, bulbs all good. What could be the problem?

When you put the stereo in, what did you do with the red wire with a green stripe? The aftermarket radios don't always use these, so you have to wrap the ends, depending on whether or not you used a wiring harness. If that wire is shorted on the chassis, it will blow the dimmer fuse.

The battery died in my 1998 Honda Accord and I don't have the 5 digit code for the audio system

Call your local Honda dealer. They will have you swing by with the vehicle. Bring proof of ownership and they will be able to get you the security code.

In case you didn't get the other:
You should talk to the previous owner about the code you will need to make the radio work.
Your car’s audio system2.gif will disable itself if it is disconnected from electrical power for any reason, which must have been the case. To make it work again, you must enter a specific five-digit code in the Preset buttons. Because there are hundreds of number combinations possible from five digits, making the system work without knowing the exact code is nearly impossible.
If you had bought the car new, you would have received a card with your manual that listed your audio system's code number and serial number. Since you don't have the card, you can ask the seller for the code, or get the code number from your Honda dealer, but to do this, you will need the system’s serial number, or maybe the accord's vin number.
If your car’s battery is disconnected or goes dead, or the radio fuse is removed, the audio system will disable itself. If this happens, you will see ‘‘Code’’ in the frequency display the next time you turn on the system. Use the Preset buttons to enter the five-digit code. If it is entered correctly, the radio will start playing.
Hope this is helpful.
