Question about 2008 Volvo C70
All the lights come on and when I turn the key it seems that the battery goes dead and the lights go off. I tried jump starting it but it still didn't start. I also can hear the tubo trying to start but it also dies.
You can also follow the positive battery terminal to the starter and then look on top of it and there is a solenoid and a small red wire to it with a small nut.See if its loose and if so tighten it. Also check both of the battery post's terminals by removing them and cleaning them inside with a metal brush and also the battery post's with a small round brush they sell in any auto parts then place them back and just tighten slowly until you feel them not too tight so that they wont break the outside nut then start your car and see if this works!

The trunk latch is operated by a solenoid which it requires power to operate. since the batery is flat then it won't work. I'm not sure where the positive terminal is under the hood but you can connect the positive lead to the alternator wire terminal, and the negative lead can be connected any where on the engine.

Battery is shot, buy a new one (possibly get some warranty credit if it is new enough). I just had a co worker ask me about the same problem today and the dealer replaced his battery in his Jeep. The new maintenance free batteries only last approximately 5 years and they don't give you a heads up like they use to in the old days. I have started cars in the morning and noticed that they start a little hard that day. The next time I try to start it, the battery is dead.
Back in the day, I think we had a little more warning because we had to crank the engines longer. With the electronic ignition and fuel injection the modern engines crank so easy, so we don't put a lot of strain on the batteries and when they go they go.
