I have mecedes 190D with 5 cylinders engine.when i

I have Mercedes 190D with 5 cylinders engine.when i shift the gear to drive 3 it seems the engine moves forward thus the fan hits the radiator thus destroying it.when is it appropriate to engage such gears

I own a mercedes benz 190d and the problem is the tranny will shift out of gear after a couple miles. After sitting idling for a little while it drives fine again for another couple mile. I was wondering...


The selector switch on the side of the transmission might need a slight adjustment as it sounds like your transmission is borderline Park / Neutral. Generally the vacuum, or rather its absence, is to keep the transmission in a low gear for longer when the car is under load when accelerating; low vacuum in the inlet plenum a petrol engine = accelerating load = delayed gear up shift; on the diesel the vacuum system mimics this effect.

Whilst driving, my E280 gear box moved into neutral for about a second or two, and it shifted into the next gear with a strong sudden ****.


seems like faulty transmission, the reason is when you drive the car gears are up shift form 1 to 2 , 2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 5, like that it should be 7 speed auto trans mission in your car, if you mention when which gear up shift the problem occurred I can give more information about what's the fault in transmission, so according to your details it's like two gears are engage together, when two gears are engage same time the transmission control unit understand it's something getting wrong in the transmission according to actual value of gear ratio, then trans mission change the gear to neutral for a second and after that it give the one lower gear than the gear which was stuck and drive fine, this thing might not happen all the time but is the problem verse it can happen all the time, the solution is you must get your car to the Mercedes dealer workshop then they can find what's the wrong inside the transmission before remove it, they have advance diagnose tool for it, then they will repair your transmission, this is the cheapest way, if some one repair your transmission without right understanding regarding what's the exactly fault you will be stuck, may have to be remove again and again,

I have S500 2002 and it seems the car when in drive is stuck ina lower gear. The techtronic shifter will not go into any other gears but neutral and park. car seems like its in low 2 or 3 gear def not drive. car revs a lot higher. also recently had ESM shifter replaced/rebuilt

I mixed up the the spark plug wire when I changed them and the distributor cap ... help! On my 1987 Mecedes 190E 2.6L 6 cyl.


Starting from the front of the engine, the fan blade. The cylinders are numbered 1 and next 2 and so on untill you get to the back of the engine wich is 6 .
