I have a 1994 Isuzu Trooper with a loud noise coming from either the transmission or the suspension. Can you help?

It is going to be difficult to diagnose without further information from you but we can start. It would help if you have someone there to help listen. You can try rocking the car by hand and see if you hear any clunks - which would be suspension. You can turn car on and move steering wheel back and forth & listen for noise. You can visually inspect the underside of your trooper and see if there are any loose components. you can start the vehicle, keep the brake on and rev the engine just a little and shift through the gears. You can have it rolling slowly and move steering wheel back and forth. You can drive over some bumps or pot holes, blocks etc., and see if there is a clunk.

For continous noise, you can drive it some and check the wheel temperatures, if one of them is hotter than the rest, that can be your problem - both wheels on each axle should be about the same temperature. Does the noise only occur when you are driving, or with the engine running? That information will help isolate your problem. If it is in your transmission it can be as simple as a plugges oil screen if automatic. Check the above areas and send another clarification. Thanks, Rick

Sounds like it may be a universal joint in the front or rear drive shaft.

may be a bad ujoint in the drive shafts. Check them for any movement, there should be no side to side or up down movement. is the vehicle level?

SOURCE: Loud clicking noise when 4wd is engaged on left wheel when turnin

Check your cv (constant velocity joint) , It may have a big clearance which is the source of the noise when turning left or right and when 4wd is engage. Juts like front wheel drive cars, if the cv joint is with clearance it will tend to sound in the left or right turns. It is not exactly clicking sound , nmore like knocking sound , low in pitch, but not heavy.

it could be a vacume loss or the shifting module..
The shifting module is what tells it to shift - and it is controled by vacume pressure..

Why does the transmission light on my 1994 isuzu trooper blink

It means the transmission controller has detected a failure or a sensor input discrepancy. Try and find a repair facility with a Tech-1 or Tech-II diagnostic scanner to read the diagnostic codes.

Loud tapping/knocking noise from fan belt/rocker cover

Do a compression test first.find out where you stand with the engines condition. If you think its coming from the belt area directly, then remove the belt/s and manually spin and wiggle each pulley. Try to see if anyone of them have a bad bearing. Let us know.
