Question about 1997 Mazda MX-5 Miata

1 Answer

How to replace my clutch.

Hi all. I'm Carmen, from Namibia, and around here there isn't much support for MX5 owners, at least, not ones like me that own the older MX5's. (1997)
I'm being charged an arm and a leg to have my clutch replaced and I would have to go to three different places as no one place can do the whole job. So instead, I want to just buy the new clutch and do it myself (with my guys help of course).

So any advice on how to do it would be greatly appreciated, or resources anyone can advise me to for a step by step.

Would be greatly appreciated.

Mazda mx5 will not start after flat battery battery now charged but soon as turn the ignition on the alarm goes off and will not start

You need to reset the alarm. If it's a Stock/original alarm, read the Owner's Manual or call a Mazda dealer. If it's not stock, you'll need to ID the alarm and look online for the instructions.

If your keyless remote fob has a Mazda label on it and is the ONLY one you have it's probably stock; if it's not a labeled Mazda, look for another name to find the alarm type.

My 2010 Mazda mx5 needs the clutch replaced with only 10000 of careful driving. Is this a common problem?

No thats not normal Idon;t see how this could be posible ever if you tryed to burn it out The problem may not be the cluch disc it may be one of to cylinders in the hydrolic system Dose it slip or not shift correctly I realy don;t what to tell you but i know you couldn;t burned that clutch out in 10;000 miles Theres got to be another reason for this to be happening take it to someone else and get another opinion on whats wrong good luck

Car shudders when taking off

If this is a standard transmission, I would bet money that what you are experiencing is clutch chatter. The clutch may still seem to be working ok, but it will definitely get worse. if you have an automatic transmission, please clarify. Clutch has just gone on my MX5. Inspection reveals small reservoir is empty. I know it needs Dot 3 oil, but do I need to bleed the system & is this easily done without masses of tools & a ramp?

No this operation needs ramps -- if there is no fluid in the reservoir this means that the slave cylinder or master cylinder is leaking - you may have to replace one or both of these components.

you have to bleed the clutch cause it should be an hydraulic one... if you still have a lot of free play after that it means the clutch is worn too much....

Unable to obtain a manual

If you want a repair manual, go to an auto parts store, they have haynes repair manuals for different vehicles. If you want an owners manual, go to dealer and see if they can get one.
